Petition to Seek to Agree a Touring Music Visa Scheme with the EU

This and things like Erasmus were offered by the EU but were turned down by our cunch of bunts. It was needless, nasty, vindictive vandalism.

Disgrace that they still haven't sorted this, another example of how shortsighted this government is.
They don't want to sort it out as they don't want foreigners coming in on a reciprocal basis.

They also have the problem that because they didn't think through that it's not just the free movement of people they're restricting.

Why should it be exclusive just to musicians and the arts and nobody else?

I know a load of lads who have lost out on work because of brexit and can no longer contract in the EU unless they wing it in the 90 days and hide the fact they are working

January 2021

'An EU official told the Guardian the UK had turned down its standard proposal of 90 days’ work in a 180-day period at the discussion table on mobility. This proposal traditionally covers musicians, sports people and journalists but could have been expanded to include technical staff had the UK been willing to negotiate on freedom of movement, the official said.

“Would we have had an issue with it? Not necessarily. We were proposing our standard list [of exemptions]. If we had begun discussions in [mobility], maybe that would have been different. But the UK refused to engage in our discussions at all. That’s the most important point.”

We sure must have some towering upsides to Brexit we can all point to to counterbalance this. Anyone?

There is generally the option to get work visas in European countries for most skilled roles where there is company willing to sponsor and there is a route for established, successful musicians but for the people just starting out it is too difficult or expensive or just not possible, the Beetles in Hamburg wouldn't happen under the current regime

Mainly because the government have announced them doing it about 4 or 5 times. They haven't done that with other occupations and industries.
