Imagine the Chinese [USA] supplying arms to the Irish [Zionists], living in English [Palestinian] homes, to bomb and kill the English [Palestinians] in the Skeggy [Gaza] refugee camp, claiming they are terrorists.
That's Israel.
 
Years ago a Jewish American friend stopped over on his way to Isreal. He was really excited about finally visiting ‘Our Home’..
He was from California and had that air about him. Was a bit hippie type and his hair wasn’t long, over his ears, not even full shoulder length.
Got through immigration okay. Stepped outside the terminal and was approached by two IDF soldiers and told to accompany them, and was taken to a barbershop and was given a short back and sides.
Left the hairdresser shop. Got a cab to the airport and got the first flight back to the States.
Never to return. Sure it wouldn’t happen now, but who knows.

I read Roofies pro Palestinian post where it made a number of claims including that 6,000,000 Palestinians were displaced.

It seemed a lot so I did some research and could not find a reference to anything like that number if he was meaning in 1947.

You'll know what google is like and the video appeared in the side panel so I watched it.

Other than the video I read claims that the Arab nations told the inhabitants to vacate the area in 1948 and return when the jews had been wiped out - rather than the displacement of the native population. Also claims that historically the land was the home of the jews back to Roman times.

The video covers some of the alternative views. I knowing the board tends to be one sided but wondered if anyone more knowledgeable than me would share their views having seen it. I had no idea who the two guys were but had read similar views and it was a convenient way to challenge Roofies opinions .
I'm still digging around looking for more info. It would be disingenuous as background to this post if I did not admit to being more pro Israeli in the light of October 7th. Having said that if you had asked me before then I would have been critical of their behaviour in the West Bank without understanding what was happening in Gazza.

It's very easy to pick sides when cognitive dissonance kicks in and I'm trying hard not to let it happen.

I disagree with a lot of what Bill Mahers saying in that video but honestly I'm reluctant to bother setting out what because it seems like you're already writing off a reply as one sided. I suppose assuming you're genuine...

One of the first things Maher says is that Jews have been in that area since 1200bc and claims thats "before the first arabs walked the earth". I'm not sure what he means by that second part but in answer to the first part I'd say so what? Why does the idea Jewish people were there a long time ago make it okay to kill 10s of thousands of children now?

The next thing he says is that there wasn't a country called Palestine. Again, so what? The history is that for hundreds of years they were part of the Ottaman empire and then after WW1 they were part of the British empire. There was people living and existing there the whole time. Just because it wasn't an independent country doesn't mean it was empty. So again, why would the fact they weren't a country make it okay to kills 10s of thousands of children there now?

The third thing Maher says is that Hamas' negotiating position is all Jews dying. Well, we know thats not the case. Its not like the ceasefire negotiations have been kept secret. Hamas are offering hostages for prisoner releases and a ceasefire.

If you're looking for youtube videos to watch on the subject I'd suggest ditch American comedians turned chat show hosts and watch some videos of Norman Finkelstein.
