Embarrassing herself, It's so cringey.

She was played a clip of her in 2016 saying that turkey was going to join the EU and denying that we had a veto on accession.

Even when faced with cold hard facts she is arguing that black is white. She's still saying we couldn't have vetoed Turkey's accession.

This leadership race in an absolute horror show.
 
I don't think it matters how the contenders perform or what they stand for, remember the membership chose Johnson despite all his known personal and political lying and cheating.

i think she will win it - but why they are on tv i dont know - none of us have a say in it - its for tory associations only, they are the ones with a vote, around 9% of the population. *please see comments below

get it over and done with this punch & judy charade and a lets get a General Election underway - this lot shouldnt be leading a conga, never mind the green and pleasant lands.

Conservative members choose the next leader, all 160,000 of them. Significantly less than 9% of the population
 
I thought Sophie Raworth missed the follow up question - if Maud' - really believes you can't go back on your word ( Cameron's 'we won't vote against Turkey joining' "commitment" / comment ) - does that mean the Brexit agreement signed by BJ re NI stands & there will be no unilateral breaking of it by her if she is PM?

Though agree she is yet another, pathetic & lying, politician that will do & say anything to get power..
 
Both France and Germany would use their veto if it looked like Turkey would join.
If I knew about this when THAT poster was realised Then she most certainly did.
Also she was only granted the Honorary Commander after she became Defence Minister, that job didn’t last long.

That would have been a brilliant follow up question.

It's well beyond parody, they are in the process of replacing Johnson for being a massive liar and one of the candidates is on tv telling massive lies, top notch.
 
Latest betting has Penny of Mordor and Filthy Rish even stevens virtually. Thick Lizzy is making no headway despite her Thatcher Tribute Act and Bad Enoch is falling away. Tommy Two Gun Hats has no chance and is eating the daisies as far as his campaign is concerned.

Tommy "Tugentw@t" (think that was the whips nickname for him wasn't it) is the only one who isn't a complete loon and even then he's still a Tory who believes in all their failing economic policies. At least he's not a populist though. Sums up the state of them that he's the one without a chance. Good news for labour though.

If labour can't beat any of the other three we might as well give up and go home. For purely selfish reasons I hope it's not Truss. She would be a gift for labour, but I work for Cabinet Office and I can't stand any more of Rees Mogg's incompetence and BS. On principle though, team Johnson need gutting and Truss' backers are the very worst of the Johnson government.
 
The ERG and Sunak factions don’t want Mordaunt. They fear she would beat them all if she is in the last two. There will be machinations behind the scenes to ensure she doesn’t make the last two and get the members vote.

Pretty clear that's what they're trying. Be interesting to see if they manage it.

Backstabbing, behind closed doors deals, corruption. All to select candidates to put in front of a few hundred thousand xenophobic pensioners who'll select our next PM. What a time to be alive. Truly inspirational. 😂

Have you listened to Rory Stewart on his podcast he does with Alistair Campbell about the shenanigans the likes of Gove and Hancock employed against him when he stood to be leader?

They all seem so urbane and well mannered but behind the scenes they are utter scumbags, all of them.

Stuart has a series on R4 that started today about argument. It starts with the art of debating and lots of references to Plato and Cicero but is already moving into the territory of what happens when one of the debaters is a lying toe-rag. Can't imagine what/who he is getting at :unsure: :D
