Penalty?

I was at the game last night so haven’t seen any highlights but seen a quick clip on social media of the Sky studio saying Boro could have had a penalty in the first half. What incident was that? I don’t recall anything.

For those at the game how awful was the linesman in front of the Boro fans. In the first half he missed at least SIX offside calls. Leadbitter went straight to the officials at half time. Didn’t make a difference in the result but shows how poor the officials are.

It was when McGree got infront of Rodon early on. An absolutely nailed on penalty. McGree got there first and Rodon had already committed to playing the ball and kicked McGree in the process. The referee was dreadful last night, missing things all over the pitch throughout. How he booked Dijksteel instead of giving us the foul is beyond me.

What, in reality, do the Referees assistants do except wave for an offside and when the ref decides which way a throw in goes even if it's a nailed on decision.

Latte was taken out when we were breaking forward, to be fair to the ref it was behind his back but there’s no reason why the 4th official and assistant ref didn’t see it and flag it to the ref.
I think that is why Leadbitter went over to officials at half time, even if ref didn't see it linesman 4th official must have seen it.
Should have informed Ref and Leeds player should have been cautioned minimum.

Both were poor. Very slow to flag for offsides, and I'm sure there were three or four occasions when nothing was given at all when Leeds were attacking.

Was straight after the goal as well wasn't it? Looked a pen from the away end and I got a text straight away saying it was one.

Bottled it. Anywhere else on the pitch he’d have given a foul without hesitation. I don’t mind refs getting stuff wrong, but he can’t have missed that was a foul he just didn’t have the courage to give it.
It was a Pen I wouldn't expect to get away from home....it was minimal for me. McGree didnt deserve it anyhow - he was utter tosh

I said in the match thread it was one of those refereeing performances that is so incompetent it looks corrupt. I am sure he is actually just an absolutely s**** ref but imagine being so bad at your job that you look like a match fixer?

Nah, Lath was looking for that. He looked round to see where the defender was, and moved towards him.

The McGree incident looked like a penalty. If McGree hadn't gone down like that it might have been given.

After several playbacks it was a penalty, but honestly, in real time, it looked nothing like a penalty to me, but a good tackle given where the ball ended up. I'm not going to criticise the ref for that, in fact I'd praise him for it. I don't want something like that going to VAR and being overturned.

We didn't lose because of the ref. Our players made too many errors. Some of them were forced by a good Leeds team, some were unforced errors. The game was in the balance, Farke made substitutions and they made a difference. I feared it would be so and was hoping Carrick was going to match that with our own to counter that extra energy as soon as he could see the Leeds subs getting ready.

Why would LL want to get involved in a tussle in that situation when he was ahead of the Leeds defender, all he wanted to do was get into the box so Doak had someone to cross to. Blatant taking man out of the ball. If ref had seen it possible red but as he didn't the linesman or the 4th official (who both must have seen it) should have informed ref. The ref should than have cautioned the player. Linesman and 4th official not doing the job properly.

So let's get this straight we didn't get the penalty because a: McGree didn't play well enough to deserve a penalty or b: because Leeds deserved to win. Also after we scored from a corner the ref blew for a foul on the next corners in case we scored again.

100% penalty. VAR and that's given .

Also off the ball elbow to back if laths head it looked like to me TV.

Ref had his orders off sky last night.
