Pears

Doesn't inspire confidence and reminds me of Jason Steele. Surprised Warnock picked him because he's a talker on the pitch, I'd rather he was a quiet goalstopper. Hope Dejan is back on Wednesday

Was thinking the same thing about the comparison between him and Steele, in that they do the basics well but you rarely see them making a save that you wouldn't necessarily expect them to make, if you get my drift. If it's difficult, it's usually going past them.

Pears isn’t the answer- installs little confidence and at best a good number 2. If Stojanovic isn’t Warnock’s idea of a keeper we must sign a first choice keeper as a number one priority.

Can't remember one memorable performance from him, not to say he's bad but just very ordinary. Better keepers than him have been ridiculed by our fans in the past.

Wouldn't mind Bialkowski from Millwall. Unfortunately, he only signed a permanent deal in January so probably got no chance:cry:

Joe Hart. He's not going to be fussy over wages. He needs a team and a manager that believes 100% in his ability. Hell a few years ago he was one of the best keepers in the world until Pep walked into City and decided because Hart can't pass a ball like Xavi or Iniesta he bombed him out of the club.

Not sure how anyone can judge a keeper with our pitiful defence in front of them. Sort the defence out and we’ll probably see a different keeper. Same go for Stojanovic

Hes a kid. I thought he was gaining confidence till he got dropped for what was probably a foul. As kosovo said no one would look great with that lot in front of you

Leeds have been linked!!

Joe Hart was never one of the best keepers in the world. And he didn't just get rid of him because he couldn't pass a ball. It was also because he's ****

Don't rate him at all. New Number one has to come in.

A new team has to come in!

Ayala, Shotton and Gestede have already gone. Clayton, Friend, Johnson are on their way. Roberts and Nmecha will go back to City. If we got a reasonable offer for Britt or Fry they’d be away too.

There’s also a chance that if we got a decent offer for Spence or Coulson we’d cash in.

That doesn’t leave much left.

Warnock (or whoever) has a massive rebuilding job on their hands and hardly any time to do it.

Meijas is the best goalie at the club.

I worry about our keepers. As an ex keeper, sadly never full professional level, too short was the reason, and its true sadly, but I know a good keeper when I see one. Boro have had 4 top quality ones. Platt, Schwarzer, Pears and Crossley. Dimi was decent but just short of top quality. I loved Given, but he messed up so discard him, he played well for us though.

Mejias is better than Pears and Dijon for me, Pears reminds me of Steele. However, none of the 3 are ideal and we could do better. Mejias was superb against Man City in the cup and Arsenal too back in the day, but he has mistakes in him that trouble too.

Dejan got dropped for letting at least 2 goals that he should have stopped since the restart but i think longer term he will be number 1. Pears hasn't done much wrong since the restart so has to keep his place. I don't rate mejias at all unfortunately but as a number 3 he is fine. I don't think the keeping position will be a priority next season, so i doubt we be throwing many of our limited resources at the position. Talk of Joe Hart as good as he is, is pure folly his wages will be way out of our league.

Mejias will never be able to cope with the physicality of this league, keepers get no protection and I dont think he will ever be able to be good enough because of that. Shame as he has shown enough in the cup games to suggest he could have had a pretty good career

I knew when we signed him he was a good shot stopper but would struggle with crosses and the physical rough and ready demands and said so at the time. I’d hoped he would develop How to cope with it like De Gea (not saying he’s in the same class before anyone starts) But he hasn’t as yet. I think Dejan May be similar to be honest, great shot stopper but airy-fairy on crosses / physical. Pears has promise but a long way to go, doesn’t seem to move his feet quick enough at times and flaps at crosses on occasion too. Having said all that we are weak defensively so it must be tough keeping behind them.

Keepers get much more protection in the premier league which has probably helped De Gea more than anything. Plus the way teams play in this league you sometimes see 3/4 players on the keeper from corners etc when they know he has a mistake in him. Mejias is always going to struggle with that, especially when his confidence is at rock bottom. Real shame because I always felt he had potential to be a good keeper.

I agree, but that was not my point. We need a new reliable keeper. A keeper is the most important part of a team, a good one can add 15 points a year for me
