Paul Pogba Banned From Football For Four Years

Some theorists think he has been stitched up here - Juventus desperate to get his huge contract off their books but can't as nobody daft enough to take him at that salary. Stays put and slowly the club move towards financial peril - in Italy if a player is caught on PED or the like the club no longer have to pay the player - it basically voids the contract.

Pogba then fails given tests and claims he was given everything by Juventus club doctors. They deny this but, more importantly, they no longer have to pay Pogba.

Almost like it couldn't have worked out more perfectly for the club.

Would this mean the clubs are stripped of all honours won when he was doping too? ( i think they should be)
Yeah it's a tricky one isn't it? Don't know! Pretty rough on any clean players but then would that motivate clubs more to do their own screening?

And then you have the national team.... losing your world cup medal because some nob was doping. But obviously tough on players on the losing side if you don't 🤷
Didn’t Usain Bolt lose one of his Olympic gold medals he won in the relay after one of his team mates failed a drug test? If so then I don’t see why football should be any different.

Those having a go would be amazed at how lax some players are when it comes to taking stuff given to them by club doctors and medical staff. Pogba will be absolutely slaughtered for this but I’ve always thought most players operating at that top level will be taking all sorts of stuff. It’s catching them, or actually actively trying to catch them through investment in people and services, that’s where the problem lies. I think football likes to pretend it’s above this stuff but it just can’t be. The rewards are too great for it not to be rife.
It's almost as if the governing bodies have absolutely no interest in catching anybody.

Our own Richard Kielty lost his relay silver medal after the last Olympics due to one of his teammates failing a doping test
