Parkrun Update

I’m looking forward to these restarting. It will be a good incentive to incrementally edge my way back towards my PB range, which I am currently around 10 minutes and 3 stones behind at the moment.

It is great news, coming after an incredible effort by parkrun directors up and down the country who came under intense pressure despite being volunteers.
Unfortunately as that article states though there is a fair chance that the restart date of 26th June will be delayed by the roadmap announcement on Monday. Delayed perhaps but we now know we will be parkrunning again this summer.

Good news. I have been told that many park landholders could temporarily reverse their permission pending the government announcement on Monday. But it should be temporary. If this happens lets hope the other park landholders all get on board over the next month.

Fair play to you. . After 2 years of striving for the magical sub 20, I managed to achieve it a couple of years ago at 19.54. I collapsed in a very happy heap at the end though. If i can get close to a sub 22 this year, I will be very pleased.

I have only done the one Parkrun in the Boro, Albert. Park. Hoping to do the Stewarts or Barrage area run, on my next family visit in July

It looks like Tees Barrage - Stockton's only parkrun is the only parkrun in the region that has not been given the green light.

I've never been on a Parkrun and am never likely to go on one, but this is one aspect of the restrictions that I really don't understand. What's the problem with it? On the other hand, why not just go for a run in the park?

I should do this, keep promising myself I'll do it one time, just to say I've done it, not into running at all so it's the motivating thing really

Councils are worried about uninsured mass participation events.
There are organised runs and organised sporting events now able to take place. In many ways parkrun is a victim of its success and landowners are nervous about the numbers.
