Parkin on Guy Fawkes night

Does anyone still eat this on GF night? Or , does anyone recall eating it ? Can you still buy it locally ?
Just read a great recipe for it in the Guardian & if I can get the stuff I will try to make it for Xmas .

I've never associated parkin specifically with GF night but it was one of my Gran's specialities.It is available at lots of places. Last couple of places I remember buying it from were the little bakery near the castle in Helmsley and Bothams in Whitby.

I love parkin. Often my choice for my birthday cake.

Nice heated with ice cream.

We make our own. Love ginger cake so it’s an annual ritual baking Parkin every November.
