Whatever the reason Ineos team should be shot for allowing a young inexperienced rider to fall foul of a basic rule.

Alpecin have dictated this so far and riding hard for MvDP

On course for the fastest ever race - the pace has been unrelenting. Alpecin still have the upper hand with a. rider in the front 3 and MvDP ready to pounce I think

Only a mechanical can prevent a VdP win. Alpecin have ridden a textbook race. Class.

Even a mechanical will be no great problem now the gap is big enough to have his team car behind. Only a bad crash with maybe a broken bone can stop him.

Phillipsen nailed-on for 2nd too if he stays upright.

Magnificent rider though he is he kind of ruins it for us all tuning in for an exciting race. With Mads still there he's not nailed but agree he is the favourite.

He's on another planet. Fred Wright top British finisher in 13th and Tom in 17th as expected paying for his lack of racing.
