Parachute payments

Just heard that the Premier League could potentially save £100M if all three teams that came down last season go back up this season.

Do you think that they should keep the £100M or should they distribute it to the lower leagues?

Yes good point this and as the rules were changed when we went up as well we only got the half share as you need to survive at least one season to unlock the full amount

all those promoted sides have the full amount... villa Sheffield u Brighton etc

only West Brom and Fulham would miss out the rest have the full war chest though.
But I think they still have their payments from Before so not sure.

The concept was first introduced during the 2006-07 season and later overhauled from the 2016-17 season on.

Initially, parachute payments were distributed over the course of four years, but the 2015 change reduced that time period to three years and just two in the case of teams that spent just one season in the Premier League.

Parachute payments work in tandem with solidarity payments, with an overall value of £100m, which are distributed among all other English Football League clubs each season.

The solidarity payments are intended to offset the potential for competitive disparity between clubs that could arise out of parachute payment

They must be praying Bournemouth go up. It's probably the first time all 3 relegated have gone straight back up? Save a fortune in payments.

Then again it maybe 'helps' all the other teams as only the 3 new clubs down making serious money and the advantages it brings (not that it did with us sp*nking 50mil).

I do find it laughable that it will be distributed between the other prem clubs. Just stick it into leagues 1 or two or even grass routes as a good will gesture due to covid.
