Paddy McNair

Still not getting a sniff. Wonder if he has expressed a desire to leave. Interesting that mowatt etc being brought on ahead of him.

Feel like somethings lined up already personally
 
Interesting that he was on the bench last night but when they cut to him at the end he was wearing full tracksuit, jacket etc - definitely didn't look like he'd been warming up (not sure if centre halves do usually?) or even that he knew he wouldn't be involved at all.

I like Paddy but he's definitely down the pecking order. Doubt Carrick would see him as a FB so he's probably 3rd or 4th choice CB.

If that's his long term prospects I'd expect him to be off in Jan - must be a few championship teams where he'd walk into their first 11.
 
When Paddy was at Man Utd there were rumours that he wanted to play as a CM and Fergie essentially told him "You are not a midfielder, you are a defender".
He played 25 games for Man Utd - 20 as a CB and 5 as a RB. He also played mostly CB for Man Utd U21s and in the U19 UEFA cup.

I'm assuming Carrick see's him as our 3rd choice CB behind Fry and Lenihan, who both had a really good game last night.
 
I know it probably doesn’t mean much but he’s still very much active on insta liking all of the club’s posts and the other players posts after games.

Maybe that suggests there hasn’t been a big fall out?

Maybe 4th behind clarke when fit?
 
It sounds like we were touting him around in the summer, Scott Parker apparently told Bournemouth he didn’t want him after a deal had been agreed. Came out in the aftermath of Parker’s sacking.

Definitely. Would explain a lot. World cup break would be an ideal time to give him a rest from training altogether for two weeks at least.

burnt out, look how many games he's played last few years for club and country, think its took a toll on him

My thoughts too. Feel for him when he's the only outfield player not to be used from the bench last game, but that's the way it is sometimes. Howson on 4 yellows , Hackney 3 already , T Smith 3 too , and players are just a slight knock or strain away from sitting out for 2 or 3 matches. He'll feature sometime , and if it's a rest he needs now then perfect time with world cup on us
