Paddy McMidfield

Not sure why Paddy is playing midfield when Warnock said he was average there. Surely paddy in the back three instead of an out of form Dijksteel and Morsy (who got an on pitch ovation not long ago ) into midfield

I thought both were awful tonight but I guess McNairs set pieces keep him in the team. Dijksteel does look a shadow of himself from earlier in the season. Seems like covid may have had a big effect on him.

Warnock mentioned in an Interview illness so took that as covid, was out the same time we had all the positive tests.

McNair seemed to be the sitting midfielder, with Howson given license to go further forward, or at least that how it looked to me?
I’d prefer it the other way round, as Paddy has a shot on him and is good on the run too.

Yeah I found that strange too although Howson played a huge part in the winner. But I would prefer it the other way round I think.

It's interesting that Dijksteel was being praised (apart from the "unfortunate" OG) by the Gazette. He was bullied too easily. By far his best performances have been as a RB and I don't believe he's nearly as good as McNair at centre back. On McNair, no-one can dispute much of his set piece work but last night he looked weak in the tackle in midfield. He wasn't alone in that regard though and even though Coventry weren't blessed with much ability they managed to nick the ball away regularly.

He's very versatile and useful in a back 3 but he's just another version of what we already have in centre midfield.
