Owner of Bournmouth to have NZ Club in Australian A League

Bill Foley has won (bought) licence to have Auckland club in the A League. This leaves me (and possibly other NZ Boro fans) in a bit of a dilemma. I've been supporting Wellington Phoenix as my second team here since 2007 but only get to see them if I'm in Wellington or if they play the occasional game in Auckland (Seen about 15 times in that time).
Now Auckland is only a two hour drive away from me and should I shift my second team allegiance to this new team?
I'm thinking I'll stick with the Nix and I'll probably get to see them more often with an Auckland team in the league.

It will be interesting what name they choose after the debacle of the Auckland Kingz in the A League quite few years ago.
I'm going for the Auckland Volcanoes

Not sure Oz fans will relish two trips to NZ a season particularly Glory. Hope they fare better than the now defunct Knights That said as a Nix fan a NZ derby would be interesting. but they will have that money bags franchise tag. Nix all the way.

I read that he's going to have one of, if not the, largest budgets in the league so yep, looks like the new rich team everybody will love to hate...

Will NZ sustain 2 teams do you think? I'd like to think so.

I was backpacking in NZ in 2007 and had some beers with some very enthusiastic soon-to-be Phoenix fans, so I do keep any eye on the results.

We should be able to, although the nix have sailed pretty close to the wind. Most notably when Terry Serepesos (?) was in charge.

If the new guy puts money in there will be no problems, pop of Auckland is over 1 million.

I reckon it will, now. Don't think it would have been able to a decade or so ago, but there seems to be a lot more interest in football now (though rugby is still king, queen and prince). And Auckland is a city of over one million people, with a couple of hundred thousand more within a couple of hours drive so potential fan pool is there.
Also, we had some good crowds for the women's Football World Cup earlier this year so hopefully it can survive and thrive, but not at the Nix' expense...
I reckon Abel, NZboro and I and any other Kiwi Boro fans should petition the club to play a couple of pre season games here in a couple of years time to play against both our teams.
Heck, every Boro fan should be doing this as it means a trip to watch the Boro in NZ, and February/March is the height of our summer...
