Over coming a blip on Saturday

As we showed after the sunlun game our big strength this season ( well the carrick end of it anyway) has been putting poor results behind us and moving on with a positive mindset. By sticking to our game plan and keeping our principles. Trust in the process.

I fully expect that to the case again this week, as well as his tactical side I’ve really love carricks positive attitude in how he has approached the job and this league.

As previously most managers talk about how tough and arduous the championship can be but carrick has changed this it’s a marathon not a sprint mantra we normally get and made it all about the next game.

As he says forget other teams and their result why worry as it’s just wasted energy all we can do is concentrate on our selves and the next take and if we do that the rest will come.

Onwards and upwards.

Apart from a poor opening 10mins on Saturday I didn't think we looked too bad. Had a couple of good chances and wasn't our day. I do worry though about the slow starting in the bigger games recently. Sheff Utd, West Brom and Sunderland, although all away from home. I fully expect us to bounce back at the weekend. I guess we had to lose at some point.

Could easily be back to a 4 point gap again come Saturday evening. We were always going to stumble at some point and we all knew WBA was going to be a tough game.

3 home games out of 4 in March, if we can go on another little run I expect we won't be far away

Not be too presumptuous but if you could hand pick a row of games in this league I’d dare say

Reading
Stoke
Swansea
Preston

Isn’t a bad list.

Without stating the obvious, and not going too tora-tora-tora we need to start quickly and hopefully get an early first goal. This will certainly enable us to dictate the tempo of the game

Also need to be looking at how we couldn't break WBA down when they sat 10 men behind the ball for pretty much all of the game. Lot of teams will look at this as the blueprint on how to frustrate us ......then look to hit us on the counter.

But I have every faith in the manager / team to sort this.

👍

You probably couldn’t ask for a much better game following the WBA defeat;

Boro’s home form - WWWWW

Reading’s away form - DLLLL

Dael Fry back in. One name ............... Andy Carroll.
Carroll can be a major threat, or absolutely none at all. If we keep a high line and control posession then he's no issue. If we're sitting deep hanging onto a lead, or if they get some success out wide then he becomes more problematic

I get what you're saying about not being able to break West Brom down, and I do agree to a point. however, we did create a few chances, and for me excluding Burnley probably have the best Midfield in the league which enabled them to do it. We won't come up against quality Midfielders like that very often.

Agree, and that's why I have every faith in Boro to find a way. It's just the 10 men behind the ball can be extremely frustrating.......and it's this stage of the season where a lot of teams we play will be overjoyed to come away from the Riverside with a point ..... despite having a couple of attempts on goal and 30% possession.

Patience is going to be key if we can't get the early goal 👍

West Broms commentator said when we were beaten by Burnley we won 4 in a row
When we were beaten by Sunderland we won 5 in a row.
A defeat to West Brom will mean.... 😄

Thats what made me laugh with a few of the overreactions from Saturday, think West Brom had 30% possession and 3 shots on Target and people were saying we got battered.
Our problem was they had a 2 goal cushion and 11 men behind the ball. When we finally broke through it was injury time and their keeper saved it.
None of these next bunch of teams are as good as West Brom. The Hawthornes in a fortress for them.
Fully expect us to bounce back on Saturday

I didn't think the performance was that bad to be honest Jedi. I thought we were a tad toothless but matched them all over the park barring the two goals, of course. It was a bit freaky and I am convinced the first was offside.
