Our winning goal on Saturday

Watching the highlights Crooksy lands a lovely forearm smash on Osho when the free kick first comes in. The lad is still trying to shake off his daze when the ball is returned to be headed down for the winner. Good job there is no VAR in the Champo.:giggle:

Crooks is looking like he's getting back to his best, just a shame for him Hayden Hackney and Howson have been excellent.
Pretty certain we'll sign 1 or 2 in that position to. Big 7/8 months ahead for him

The form of Howson & Hackney should be irrelevant to be fair.

Crooks isn't a CM and shouldn't be played there neither.

He did a job at the start of the season in CM (not a great one, but I don't put that blame down to Crooks as he's not a CM) but I think we all knew it was a stop gap until we signed someone in Jan.

Then Hackney basically came out of nowhere and we've never looked back.

He went down like a ton of bricks but I couldn't decide if he'd just run into Crooks and met an immovable object, or as you suggest had a little help from Crooks. Crooks certainly didn't move towards him. Nice professional block whichever it was.

EDIT Just watched the highlights and Crooks does lean into their defender with his shoulder in order to stop him marking Lenihan - hard to be sure he used his forearm though.

Did it come off one of their players - cannot quite see if it is a great Fry headed pass or a deflection off their defender

like Crooks and good to see him come back to form, tbh not sure actually what is best position is right side of midfield not quite a striker either

Under Wilder it was more Right Central Midfielder than a standard CM though, and while I'd agree that he didn't look comfortable there and lead to me semi-ironically saying 'apart from goals what does Crooks bring to the team', it is interesting that Jones' loss of form coincided with Crooks' injury & his own loss of form.

Should play up front with Chuba. They can alternate between the number nine and ten roles during the game, totally confusing the opposition centre halves!

His movement and anticipation weren't just great for the goal, but from the moment he came on. Always looking to be in the right place. And no-one tracks him. And anyone tasked with man-marking him would be dragged all over the shop. Or pole-axed. A real poacher.
