Our recruitment

Getting pelters on here from a couple of prominent posters just a couple of weeks ago. (You know who you are 😂)

Will they be getting a bit of credit where it’s due after 6 wins on the spin?

Engel was great today. Barlaser controlling the midfield. Greenwood looks an astute loan signing if we can make it permanent for £1.5m.

I wasn't impressed by our recruitment and said as much at the time. My biggest concern with it was the impact it could have had on Carrick keeping his job. Early doors I was worried that Gibson would be forced to consider Carrick's position.
Thankfully, the group has turned things around in a remarkably short period and they are flying. I'm still not happy that we've given the rest of the league a head start yet again though. Even a modest return from the first 7 games would have us in the top 3 right now.

Frankly it's too late. Far too late. Write offs......every single one of them.

As pre season drew to its close, it was obvious every one of them were shyte. Even Lath and Greenwood - and Bangura. And Engel. Dreadful.

Terry Scott ......well, he's just taking the p*ss. Bausor - FFS, even though I don't know exactly what he does, he's absolute dogturd at whatever it is.

They all had their chance. That 15 minutes combined - just couldn't cut it could they?

Dark days ahead.

Etc etc

🙄

Admit I wrote a few off far too early, Dieng, Barlaser, Greenwood, VDB all look good. Engel and Lath getting better but still not overly convinced. Silvera, Rogers, Bangura are all a bit early to tell.
Not sure the squad is strong enough once injuries hit but hopefully this can be a squad we keep together long term without too many changes every summer

Injuries have hit and we are still winning.

We’ve lost three key players, and three are just returning.

I think as an overall squad and depth of cover we are probably better prepared than last season to cope with injuries.
Last season we had some top top talent in the first team squad but not a lot of depth outside of that.
This season we have sacrificed the 3 or 4 exceptionally talented individuals (at Championship level)for a better balanced squad and more cover.

Well our bench looks very strong these days, so perhaps our squad strength is ok.

Dieng is a quality signing an improvement on Steffen, Engel is doing ok after a rocky start, the rest are bit part players really as it’s those who were already here last season making the difference. Not particularly impressed by Greenwood so far, no penetration to his game but tidy still, compare his game today with Jones’ who creates so much more, he’s straight out for McGree when fit. Morgan, Silvera and Latte Lath all still have a lot to prove, I think the latter will come good too though and could play a good role in one of the three behind the striker.

Who knew, maybe patience is important.

Kieran Scott is still too scruffy though. Can't give him any credit until he has a shave.

Looks like I’ve had a mare with that one. I will wear that badge of honour.

Majority of the new lads are coming into their own, and if 80 percent of them are successes I’d class that as a good window.

I’m encouraged with Latte Lath, Greenwood, Engel, Rogers. Dieng is superb. Bangura I’m sure will be fine back up/rotation. Silvera is the one where there is question marks just now but hopefully he can come good.

Also pleasing to see Barlaser putting in some good performances. Him and Hackney compliment each other well.

I’ve gave them a bit of stick.

Consistently said I love Dieng. He’s better than Steffen for me.

I’ve often been a champion for Barlaser, glad he’s more involved.

Jury’s still out on Silvera, Bangura & Engel. Engel has been good lately, but I don’t think we’d have signed Bangura if there wasn’t concern about him. However I did say after the Sheff Wed game that Engel shouldn’t pull on a boro shirt again. And I was wrong.

Last season I said Akpom would never score more than 4 league goals in a season and couldn’t have been more wrong about that either so I clearly know **** all 😂

People are just very impatient often just very unrealistic, a number of bad results the players are rubbish, the management incompetent and the chairman a dinosaur holding the club back.

It was probably compounded this year because of the hangover from the play offs which everyone seemed to suffer from.

The most annoying thing a few wins and the world is a very different place and they disappear If we go on a bad run and this is the championship they will be posting again.

I was more worried about the Gibson/ Carrick dynamic being the other way around, and Carrick walking. What do we know eh.🙄
