Grant Hall, Djed Spence, Uche Ikpeazu and Chuba Akpom. I guess these are all off then as they didn't have international duty but are not back at rockliffe?!

No surprises in that lot.

Spence did have international duty.

But according to a poster on One Boro, Ikpeazu, Hall and Akpom have been told to find a new club and there was no need for them to report for pre-season.

If true, not sure I'm a fan of them being treated that way, even though I've no issue with any of the 3 moving on.
Probably makes it harder in terms of recouping a fee if we're making it clear we want rid so much that they're not even training with us.

bit of tough love I guess. Yeah, forgot that Spence scored a great own goal for England U21s haha

clearly training with a personal trainer to get in the best shape he can, fair play to him. There are plenty of ex-players I don't like, but I have nothing against him, he tried, just wasn't of the appropriate level

I agree.

Absolutely no harm in those players in question taking part in pre season fitness training whilst looking for a new club. We are still paying their wages at the end of the day.

I think Coulson was there, and he is someone that I presume Wilder would be looking to move on. I would not mind Grant Hall, & Uche Ikpeazu being in the squad

Without wanting to sound 'woke' here the employer has a duty of care to its employees both physically and mentally. I do hope these lads are being shown some respect by the club.
Yeah I agree. If anything I would prefer it if it’s them who’s asked to be away from the club rather than be somewhere they aren’t wanted otherwise it does feel a little bit harsh and unwarranted. Ikpeazu seemed a good fella and squad man so don’t see why he wouldn’t be allowed to be with us in pre season until he leaves

I suppose it depends what's meant by "no need to report for pre-season".

If it's basically "please stay away you're not welcome" then that's out of order IMO.

But if it's a case of "up to you, you're welcome to use the facilities and get checked over by the medical staff etc till you find a club, but you won't be training with the first team". Then that's fair enough I think.

Obviously none of them are from anywhere remotely near the area, so they might be happy to just find somewhere to train closer to "home".

This scenario will be happening at clubs up and down the country, won't be unique to Boro. I hope we are doing the right thing by the players and not being awkward.
Uche and Hall should be able to get sorted I would have thought, but Akpom being an enormous waste of £2.7m.....do we expect a fee or just bite the bullet and let him go?

Wouldn’t surprise me if he went on loan again to be honest

Agreed. We have to remember the squad is made of people not robots, it could be damaging for morale to see these lads sulking about and complaining about how they are treated. Doesn't do them good or the club moving forward.
