One of Us

Boro fans, we are trying to organise a minutes applause on the 16th minute of the Boro v Watford match on the 4th May for lifelong Boro fan Joe Field, who sadly lost his life on 1st April, aged only 16, leaving us all devastated đź’”

Joe was born with a rare form of dwarfism which caused him many health issues, such as brain tumours, next to no immune system, loss of feeling to the right side of his body, he had a full hip replacement and much more, but he never let any of this stand in the way of achieving his goals. Joe was an accomplished swimmer for Richmond Dales ASC and was hoping to represent England at the Paralympic’s, he played football for Boro Rangers and his true love, watching the Boro.

Joe held a season ticket in North East Corner, with his Aunty and cousins and together they never missed a game, home and away. Only hours before he was taken from us, he was at the Blackburn game watching his beloved Boro win 2-0

Known to the Boro squad as Joe Our Super Hero (JOSH), because of his fighting spirit despite his ailments, he was over joyed to walk out as mascot with his favourite player George Friend a few years back. He was the most passionate supporter you could meet and the Boro family have lost a legend

As a mark of respect to this amazing young man, who touched the lives of anyone he came into contact with, could we share this post and help raise the roof on the 16th minute of the Watford game, I know our family and friends will take great comfort in this gesture

It’s a sad time for friends and family.

We have had this before though - singling out fans for appreciation is really tricky. Everyone has a story.

Best Wishes tho

Sorry to hear your very sad news.
Contact the club if you’ve time. He really deserves the applause especially being taken at such a young age.
DM me a reminder, and we'll stick it on the board and in the Match-Day thread.

probably couldve stopped after the first line pal
I wouldn't take it personally mate - its a sad fact that there are often several of these trying to get off the ground for every game and as a result many of them fall flat unless people have very good social media connections. It's no reflection on the person you knew.

It has been proposed there is a game dedicated each year with pictures on the screen etc of people throughout the year that will allow everyone to get involved - as it is its currently a bit unfair that some people manage to get the word out and others are left clapping on their own, and when theres 3-4 minutes people are trying to remember it loses its impact - the first few of these sort of things were really keenly picked up but each one I think lessens it a lot. I think this is a great idea and hopefully one the club will take forward - has there been any progress on this @fmttmadmin

That’s all I was trying to do.
I saw the poster was a new member and I was just trying to manage expectations.
The poster may not know the history of trying to get just one game a season where everyone can pay their respects to all those lost.

Appreciate he/she is having a tough time tho and could have misinterpreted it.
