One Boro ITK claims Neil is off

Intrigued by a number of posts saying we will be relegated if he leaves. I’m actually concerned we will be relegated if he stays.
Gibson would of course never let it get to that situation but certainly “treading water” isn’t what I thought we would do at the start of the season and to be honest the majority on this Board thought back in July.

I think is very similar to the Mowbray era where you have a Manager who is liked however it's just simply not working and you cut ties.

Usually under Gibson he's appointed someone before he's sacked the current manager so we shall see how the chips fall I guess.

This squad won't be relegated regardless of who's in charge.

Based on our form this season, we'll end up on 50 points, which may not have got us relegated last season or the season before, but would have had us nervously looking over our shoulders up to the last couple of games, as it's barely better than relegation form.

Is it the same as the end of the Mowbray era? Will Warnock be looked upon with the same kind of affection as our captain fantastic and local ex player? Will he leave us with a legacy of players the way TM did?

I meant more on a Managerial front in that everyone wanted him to succeed as well, everyone is grateful who he is what he's done but time to call it a day and move on.

I meant on a managerial front Fabio. I just don’t think there is a connection somehow between the two.

Mowbray took over Strachan and as we were showing zero signs of progression. Warnock took over Woodgate who was also showing signs of zero progression. It's only natural as a supporter to acknowledge that, like the Manager, appreciate the progression that's been made in the hope he kicks on further.

The similarities as I mention in the comparison is that it's ran it's course, we all wanted it to work but unfortunately it's now come back almost full circle, so we move on and then back the eventual new guy in the hope for progression yet again.

Understand how you feel but as a Boro supporter there’s not one manager I’ve not wanted to succeed. I hold Mowbray as a manager with deep affection because of who he is and what he left the Club - the nucleus of the Karanka promotion squad. I don’t hold this fella in the same regard and dont feel his legacy of players will be as strong either.

Oh yeah I totally get that in terms of what he left and then the new manager inherited. I just mean more in terms of ending of it, the final chapter of it all seems a bit 'oh well never mind'.

When we sacked AK we actually did worse, the same when we sacked Southgate. Pulis was not sacked but ww went backwards when he left. Getting a new manager is not always an improvement.
Tell that to the Forest fans, who are now just 1 point behind us.

We have never seemed to get the new manager bounce that many other clubs seem to get when changing manager.

No we don’t do we. We lost our first 4 games under Macca. Venables was an example of where we did get that bounce.

Uncle

I would - Forest have improved but he may not be permanent most teams go through good and bad spells during a season.

Chris Houghton is a good manager he has shown that over the years and he will likely do well again somewhere. Cooper may be better but he maybe worse in the medium to long term. He struggled a bit at Swansea considering the resources he had and was asked to leave in July.

We have benefited from getting a new manager in the past and somtimes we haven't - my post was to say its mixed.

Totally agree - but Veneables was unfortunatley only temporary. Veneables was clearly a class above Bryan Robson, both in application and experience. We should have let Robbo go in the Summer of 2000. He had had enormous resources with very mixed results. He raised the profile of the Club and did his best, but that job was finished by 2000.

I don't think Warnock is Robbo in Nov/December 2000.

CD - in your opinion was Mogga chased out of the club by the fans?

Warnock could have helped build the next big legacy and cement his place in our long term history. It’s clear we are trying to do something different behind the scenes with Warnock the steady hand while we build for the future. If he’d sold the vision, bedded in the new players, been positive about the recruitment and Scott I think most fans would respect that and give him time.

Unfortunately he doesn’t seem to care about Middlesbrough football club. He cares about Neil Warnock and his own personal legacy. So he’s critical about everything that he hasn’t personally brought to the club. I thought he was the right man to get us through the transition period but it now seems like he’s actively working against our plans.
