Ok, own up…

The lighting of a marine flare anywhere and at any time other than at sea in an emergency is illegal. You can’t event light them to dispose of them when they’re date expired, so two crimes committed really.

He lit a flare under a banner with thousands of people around him. Bring that stupid deserves a bit more than community service
 
Daft kid and probably didn't realise how dangerous his actions were. I doubt very much there was any malice intended. Yes, it was very dangerous and it needs a consequence but 5 years away from doing something they love for being a bit thick seems harsh. I've known lads get 2 year bans for assaulting people a matches.

5 year ban seems excessive. 2 year ban with community service sounds like a better punishment to me,

Say for instance.. making banners with poor kids before every game.

Positive impact.. uses the lads enthusiasm and he’ll be thinking about what he’s done for longer.

Two grand fine and it’s forgotten about.
