Brutal start today with the heat. Over 50kms done and still no break fully established. I think UAE/Pog may have overstretched themselves in the first week trying to control/win everything, Hirschi is already out the back.

It's going to be interesting to see how Pog gets on with his reduced team. Sky still have G, Pidders & Yates looking good so you'd think one of them will try something soon. Jumbo are still strong - JvG has Primoz and WvA to play. It should be a good week.

As much as I don't like the disruption if people want to peacefully protest to stop the annihilation of the world then so be it.

Laporte has just been dropped. Voeckler asked the same question earlier wondering why they'd put two non-clmbers (a bit harsh on Van Aert) up front on a stage like today's without planning to go on the offensive. Everybody seems to be waiting and letting UAE burn up their energy - I think Hirschi has already been dropped.

EDIT VdP has abandoned. I suppose it's been on the cards for a while.

MvDP was never on form despite an excellent 3rd on the opening Stage. UAE really do have issues. No Bouchard or Bennett, Majka riding on whilst infected, Hirschi suffering, Soler also off form. Could be very interesting tomorrow.

I'd suspect they plan on riding up to him rather than for him to drop back but he's deffo part of a plan - hopefully they can do something to light up the race.
