*"Official" Forest v Boro Matchday Thread: reviews/archive/pics/videos/european cup/old big head.....

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

In the position he plays, he's hardly going to get 5 bookings during the season. And if he does we've got Jones, Watmore, Olusonya, Tavernier and even Sporar who can play there if we need them to. Players are human and they're going to show emotion sometimes, especially when they've come back from such a torrid time with injuries. He's not going to do it the next time he scores.

He doesn’t get it mate.

Good result that even if the performance wasn't all that impressive. As bad as Forest were (and they were truly sh*t) they will win matches this season. Banana skin avoided.

Were you not the fella who was having a go at fans at the end of the season for saying we need to sign a goalkeeper and saying it was a priority. You couldn’t get your head around the idea that you could prioritise a striker and a goalkeeper at the same time. Brainless fan
No, it wasn't me. Strikers were always the priority for me.

12 new players in, so we are in a transition period. Wins breed confidence so it doesn’t matter how we do it at the moment. Sporar looks a proper striker though. (y)

Darn right I don't get it. Why do something that has clearly and unequivocally been flagged as a yellow card offence when there are hundreds of other ways to celebrate a goal?

Just keep your shirt on and nobody would complain.

John Terry in I reckon. would be surprised if Wilder went there

Yeah, he'd seem the most likely, though he'll probably get a bit of stick for publicly distancing himself from the job on social media if he then gets it less than a week later.

Hadn’t seen that to be fair but yeah that would be a tricky one for him

well there is no such thing as a bad away win, we've played better and lost plenty of times, but with confidence low I'll take the win and the cleansheet.

Some positives Dael sailed through the game, Siliki did well, there were mistakes but some good touches as well, cramped up after 60 mins so he clearly isn't match fit yet. Sporar showed good movement and a hammer of a right foot, some nice passing too. Tav played much better than the last game. a cleansheet might help Dijksteel get his confidence back too.

Blackpool next, win that and we will be right back in the play off mix. With Bola, Browne, McNair, and Payero to come back in over the next 6 weeks, things could start to look up. Oh and only 18 more games until the transfer window opens and we can buy a LB

So yes it was you then.
No, not me. I didn't ever say any position was a priority except for a striker. There were and are plenty of good and promising players at the club, except for strikers. If the club has finally found one, or a few, then that's all I hoped for. Goalie didn't seem like a priority for MFC because the target was not winning the Champions League or the Prem League. Just scoring a few goals was the priority. If that's going to be achieved then move on to the next priority. A goalie will be on the list somewhere but solve the biggest problems first.

Tricky Trees stay rooted in Boro defeat
2 h ago, Tobias Canning

Bottom-placed Nottingham Forest suffered their thirteenth consecutive game without a victory, as Middlesbrough outclassed them 2-0, in what was only ‘Boro’s’ second win of the campaign.

Both sides blew several early chances, particularly Middlesbrough who were guilty of numerous wasteful efforts in the opening minutes. However, Andraž Šporar took responsibility to get the scoring underway, in what was his first start for the club. His guided right-footed shot following a fast break never looked like missing, after a sublime assist from Marcus Tavernier 24 minutes in. However, as the half continued, Middlesbrough rued their missed opportunities, given the HT margin should have been a lot wider.

It was not all doom and gloom, as starring for the ‘Tricky Trees’ was striker Lyle Taylor, who continuously made dangerous runs down the middle of the field, and ensured his physical presence was felt in the box. Lewis Grabban contributed strongly as well, a first half highlight came early on when he twisted and turned during his solo effort, leaving defenders in his wake. However, Forest were certainly the more disappointed of the two sides as the HT whistle blew.

Missed opportunities were seemingly the story of the second half too, as Onel Hernández fired his shot straight at the keeper moments after the restart. Then, as the ball travelled down to the other side of the field, no one was there to tap in Brennan Johnson’s pass, which was zinged across the penalty area. But the result was secured when Hernández bagged his debut goal for Middlesbrough late on, as he positioned himself incredibly well, to fire away from the centre of the box.

Middlesbrough were able to end their away-goal drought, which lasted 306 minutes, and leap from 18th to 11th. For Nottingham, they are dead-last, and given the ominous calls from supporters, Chris Hughton’s tenure could be at risk of coming to an end.
