In the last 15 years since losing to Seville we have been relegated twice, went to wembley once and lost, we've been floundering around in the Championship for more years than we've been in the Premier League and this season just avoided relegation to League 1. The year we were relegated from the Premier League we spent millions on bad buys and tried to draw our way to safety and predictably got relegated. We've spent less seasons in the Premier League than Newcastle in that period.

By any definition the use of the word successful is tenuous.
