Oasis reunion looking highly likely

I like Liam but at the same time I think he's been quite clever in the way he's manipulated many into buying into this idea that Noel has become a snob and disappeared up his own backside, whereas Liam has stayed true to himself and is a "man of the people".
Liam's new(ish) wife is a very talented PR professional. The bright orange parka at the OneLove gig that Noel couldn't attend, the decision to play his new material etc. Its been interesting to watch this battle since Beady Eye split up, from a PR perspective. She would never have had this influence over Beady Eye and Liam would have still been doing semi-drunk impromptu sets in my local (as he was ten years ago) instead of Knebworth.

Anyway, an update: https://metro.co.uk/2023/04/02/liam...contact-and-planning-secret-reunion-18542246/

Yeah, Liam himself has cited her as being a major factor in his revival to be fair.

It will be really interesting to see whether she will get on with Noel if they do reunite (which is looking likely). It could possibly cause some issues if she wants to get involved in the PR and management side of things, especially as Noel was always regarded as the leader of the band and known for being a bit of a control freak.

TBH I think a reunion would just be a tour to get the money in the bank and quash the endless debate. I don't think it would be anything like back to how it was, with albums and new material etc to promote. A one-off tour, especially a big/global one, would promote itself.

No one ever talks about a Stone Roses reunion now, and even if they did, the money wouldn't be anywhere near what it was when they reunited in 2012.

I think after a reunion Noel and Liam would be happy to carry on with their own stuff. Noel's shown he likes writing songs for himself and not for Liam to sing, Liam has shown he is popular enough without Noel's songwriting (which was always his fear).

I think Liam would want more than a one-off tour to be fair. He's completely obsessed with Oasis and I think deep down, although he's had solo success I think he'll always feel his rightful place is fronting Oasis. He was pretty honest about the fact that he didn't want to go solo but said it has to be done as he's got bills to pay.

Noel on the other hand would probably be happy for them to do a one-off tour and return to his HFB project. It will be interesting to see how it will all pan out.

There's no chance Liam would ever submit to Noels managment team, he hates them after the way they dropped him half way through the first beady eye tour. If it ever happens it would have to be with each brother having their own managment team. Plus it would be hard to envisage how they would resolve the power dynamic between them. Noel a notorious control freak and Liam equally unwilling to be controlled. It only ever worked when Liam was young and high enough not to care and grew increasingly fractious as time went on. Stranger things have happened but it'll be interesting to see.

Am not 100% sure your timings are right here. I thought Ignition dropped Beady Eye just before the second album (and I actually thought it was mutual). The album bombed and by the end of that summer BE had split up? It always looked to me like it was just a drawn out admission that the project was failing, probably from both parties?

Yeah, that's a good point regarding the power dynamic between them.

I've always said this clip gives a great insight into how difficult things must have become between them. Younger Liam wouldn't have been bothered about Noel doing a cover with the NME but I think over time Liam started to see himself as an equal leader of the band.

What's that clip from again?

I'm relying on memory so fair play some details may be fuzzy but I'm pretty sure that they continued with Oasis managment initially but when Noel came out and did his press conference while they were touring and things started getting nasty between them Ignition basically just stopped answering the phone and they found themselves halfway round the world without any mangement. It only really came out at the end of the tour when BE signed for Quest to release LP2. I think that's how he met Debbie, she worked for Quest.

Fair enough, I'm not 100% sure myself.

I can see it happening. The snobby pretentious side of me doesn’t like them, but the slightly more honest and rambunctious side does. They’d fill a vacuum, there’s no one else like them around.
Oh it’s happening. It’s all over Liam AND Noel’s socials now.

Be funny if it turned out they were just announcing a “greatest hits” of their 2000s albums, which Noel has talked about before. 🤣

Loved them when I was younger, remember buying bootleg tapes at Darlo market after work. Not for me now though, more of Swifty🤣

Jesus. I hope that Liam gets some coaching form Noel because, from what I saw from the Reading and Leeds gigs, he is fuc.king murdering those songs. Its as if he doesnt have the lung capacity to sing a whole line without cutting it off early.

Not that I am bothered. Neither of them have done anything since Morning Glory. All of the albums after the 1st two are dogsh.it, by anybody's standards.
Although I still regret that our plans to see them at the Arena were changed because one of our mates was having a leaving do and he would not go to the 'goth' night on a Friday. The same lad was mortified when, a few years later, he asked if I would like to go with him to see them and I told him that he cost us the chance to see them for £3 in a crowd of 200.

Don't think you get any stadium gigs for less than 100 these days. Paid 110 per ticket to take the wean to see Pink at Hampden earlier in the summer.
