Audiences at Middlesbrough Town Hall can enjoy a North East exclusive from the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine as they take to the stage in the town centre venue for one night only.

A £5 ticket offer is available for Ukrainian nationals and refugees who have settled in the area and is an ideal way for them to reconnect with a small piece of their homeland through a programme of specially curated music.

Designed to resonate with the current situation in Ukraine, the evening includes pieces from renowned composers including Bruch, Sibelius and Ukraine-born Boris Lyatoshynsky.

Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke said: “We look forward to hosting the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and welcoming them to Middlesbrough.

“We hope our Ukrainian community members will take advantage of the discounted ticket offer and join us for a very special concert that celebrates their country and culture.

“Such a prestigious show will be an amazing experience and for anyone trying out a classical concert for the first time, it will certainly be one to remember!”

Alexander Hornostai, NSOU managing director and producer, said: “This war has had a dramatic impact on Ukrainian lives.

“We took the decision early on that we had an important role to play in continuing to perform, in order to protect and showcase Ukrainian musical culture and show that there is more to our country than just the conflict.”

The UK tour, playing at only 17 venues in the UK, is the biggest to date for the East European Orchestra.

First-time visitors to the Main Hall inside Middlesbrough Town Hall will enjoy the excellent acoustics and a host of visual delights.

Views from all seats include hammer beams, carved dragons and eagles and the famous ‘Musicians Window’ that commemorates Felix Corbett and 38 additional classical musicians who have performed on the stage.

General tickets for the concert are £25 including booking fee. The £5 discounted ticket offer is also available to under 30s.
