None key workers with kids

People who are now expected to return to work but aren't key workers who can send their kids to school, what are they now supposed to do about childcare?

this is the thing, he is more or less putting everyone in the key worker status by encouraging people who aren't able to work from home, to go back to work, those in construction or manufacturing, so does that mean their kids would fall into the kids of key worker status and provision made at schools???

I'm in school tomorrow with one colleague and was expecting just half a dozen of my little chums.

I have a feeling after this that there may be a few more buzzes and phonecalls in the morning when we open up.

Thankfully the local authority had already scheduled a meeting for tomorrow in case of any policy shifts which needed a quick review...

Yet again no discussion with those involved to have any kind of coherent plan and phased restart and this is why Johnson isn’t a very good Prime Minister, there are lots of Conservative MP’s who would do a much better job, he doesn’t seem to understand that a road map needs roads building before you set of on a journey, how can a school that has staffing and procedures set up for 25 kids suddenly be expected at 7pm on a Sunday to have things in place for say double that number, at 8.30 in the morning ?

Johnson doesn’t do planning just bold statements and subsequent backtracks and broken promises, I think mainly because he just can’t do detail and that is where the devil is that makes all the difference.

Correct. I'm due in my school on Tuesday, expecting something between 6 and 14/15 children. I imagine that number will be leaping up from this week. It's not been thought out or communicated well. As a colleague pointed out to me, who qualified to attend in the first place, 7 weeks ago, was at the school's discretion. I guess this will be too.
Not helpful when you have a whole host of people who have been told to go back to work.

Schools will sort it. We always do, one way or another.

Hope there are a few understanding employers out there.

It remains the same though doesn't it, children of key workers? Schools shouldn't be taking these decisions, refer enquiries to the responsible authority.

To be fair, as vague as the announcement was tonight, it was just the headlines. Details are starting appear (mostly about golf :ROFLMAO:), but will be interesting to see what is announced tomorrow.

I have to say though, will be interesting to see their plan for keeping 30 odd 5 and 6 year olds socially distanced once schools go back.

It wouldn't just be double though. The number of key workers at work won't change but if they start letting everyone in some schools would have hundreds of kids especially in areas with less professionals (who tend to be the only people who can work from home, generally speaking)

Thankfully, not my decision to make or my place to have to decide who to ask!
It's important surely that staff are working from the same hymn sheet, if staff aren't aware of what is, or will be occurring how can parents be clear about the situation?
