our longest sequence of wins in the clubs history 1973-74

I mean we're only 8 games to go to equal it..

Swansea vs Boro
Boro vs Stoke
Boro vs Preston
Millwall vs Boro
Bournemouth vs Boro
Boro vs Watford
Barnsley vs Boro
Boro vs QPR

looks tough.. but is achievable and would guarantee a place in the play offs finishing on at least 74 points!!

in fact.. winning all of our last 12 games puts us on 86 points and what could possibly be an automation promotion place!!

records are there to be broken kids!! we've got as good a chance as we've ever had!!

The 10th game we were looking to win Newy, was at home to Bolton, 9th April 1974, my dear mums birthday
Myself, my younger brother & dad went excitedly to the evening match to see the mighty Boro create history, Pat Cuff made his debut that night, much to the annoyance of Jim Platt

Unfortunately we drew the game 0-0 & had to settle for the 9 wins on the bounce, Bolton were the only team that season who took most points off us

and this time it would fall on April 21st Roberts Smith's birthday! (who incidentally looks just like my mum)

Boro vs Rotherham - The All Riding Cup - the record 10th victory in a row and safely in the playoffs on 77 points!

lol while this thread brought a smile, i do think you need to lay off the drink if you think our current crop could manage such a feat
 
I’ll take finishing sixth and getting up very much through the back door . Much better than it would of been without Warno as we’d of been challenging to get back into champo had he not come here

nb wonder what odds you’d get on Boro , deckchairs and bar codes challenging together next season 🤔
 
I would be more confident if someone big like Yaya Sanogo was leading the line , but alas he was deemed not fit enough for us .
He is though , leading the line tonight for Huddersfield ?
Warnock wanted him ? What went wrong ?
In truth , I would prefer a front 4 of
Kebano / Tav / Watmore
Bolasie
Tomorrow is a guide to our season , we need to get something from the game .
 
After promotion top 6 and Europe again. Then I seriously think we will challenge for a Champions League spot!!

It’s not outside of the realms of possibility.. more chance of us stringing 12 wins together, more chance again of stringing 9 wins together and then more again that we finish on 74 points but stringing two runs of 3 wins together. It is possible and it’s ok to accept that positive things can happen x

It’s become a bit like an automatic reflex for the uninformed to say ‘the boro are crap’ then like any other total b***ks unfounded opinion it does the rounds on social media and people start to think that it’s true.

It’s not! We’re not that bad.. we are the dark dark horses for promotion this season. Well worth the neutral football fan sticking a sneaky tenner on.

We should arrange for Newy to be on the team bus for every match !
He would convince them they are world beaters !
And he would be in the players ears telling them , if you don't play out of your skin and die for the shirt , you will be replaced by someone off THE LIST !
I can see it now , Newy , with his shades on , and a ghetto blaster on his shoulders , belting out eye of the tiger all the way there!
