Senior clinicians milking the system for millions. Absolutely scandalous that this is going on, the argument is it’s bringing down waiting lists, it’s clearly a way of earning extra income and should be banned immediately. As I’ve said previously, if they want to do this then 1) pay back all their training fees and 2) use staff and facilities they pay for not the NHS, you’d find suddenly this wouldn’t happen.

Been happening for years, they are coining it in.

Went for laser eye surgery in 2009. Went to what was south tees at the time as I was hoping to get it through the NHS (eyes were that bad I qualified)

Surgeon sat me down and told me the waiting list was 2 years…. Or if I went privately he could do it on Friday…(this was Wednesday)

Turned out he did one day of NHS surgery, one day of NHS consultations and three days of private… he was even using the hospital facilities

It's rife and not just clinicians. The whole contracting-out situation stinks too, it's privatisation by the back door. Home care for the elderly and infirm is a bloody awful service. The private, profit-making companies are richly rewarded by the NHS, and they pay their kids - and it often is very young people - terrible rates on zero hour contracts. These young uns are often poorly trained too. The upshot is the companies rake it in, while the standard of care to the vulnerable at the pointy end is very poor indeed.
