NFL - Almost That Time Again...

Thankfully, I’m saying the results of 3 pre-season games (yes my Steelers went 0-3) will not be indicative of what’s to follow. With firstly limited action for the starters to basically demonstrate the results of how well they’ve worked in the pre-season camp; secondly, for the supporting cast including special teams with a considerably larger number of downs; and finally some space and ample opportunities for those trying to find the one or two final seats on the bus.

Winning is not critical in pre-season. The competing teams are using them for their own individual purposes which at points of time within these games may be quite different.

I think Steelers Digest Editor, Bob Labriola offers a good perspective…

“NFL regular season is a 17-games-over-18-weeks test where the complexion of the league changes about every four weeks or so. Good can become bad and weak can become strong, and more than one thing can be true at the same time. What the preseason finale says about the 2024 season can't be known until it's able to be viewed in the context of a completed regular season, or in other words, in the rearview mirror with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight.”

Let’s go folks! Everything’s for real from here on onwards 🏈👍

That all said, I’m leaning towards a top 2 finish in the AFC North, an extended playoff run and yet one more consecutive non-losing season ie. up to 18 years for Mike Tomlin.

Expecting big things from the Bears after a grim few years and can't wait to see them in London :) Play offs surely 🙏
I've got tickets to see them play the Vikings at Soldier Field in November. I expect a winning season this year, many a a year too soon for playoffs unless the rookies all consistently play out of their skins.

As a long standing Chiefs fan, I still find it a bit uncomfortable to find myself following the Manchester City of NFL football. Every time I ask an American who their "soccer" team is, I get Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea as my answer, and I feel like the British equivalent of that when anyone over here asks me my team. Consequently, I'll take a losing season so I don't feel so much of a glory supporter* 😁

Washington. An improvement on 31st place last year is the thing to look forward to.

Be nice to be hitting regular season with a good, solid kicker......this will cost them. 😬😬

Could be playoffs, could be tanking in November.

As a Packers fan, hoping for a playoff position at least. Possibly another transitional season as we've got a young squad. I was impressed by Love so hopefully he steps up again. We'll have to see how much of an impact losing Aaron Jones will be.

Regardless. I'm just looking forward to the whole NFL season starting.

Another poor one for the Patriots. Transitional, let’s see what the new coach is all about!

Yep, almost nailed on to finish bottom of the AFC East, and may well be in play for the first pick. Not that they mean much at this stage, but the NFL Power Rankings usually have them 31st, above only the Panthers. It's a really poor squad not helped by trading a blue chip player (Judon) to the Falcons.

As long as Hurts and Sirianni can co-exist, the eagles have a great chance of making the NFC championship game. Only worry is that the 49ers are looking good.

Fangio running the D will hopefully improve that side of the ball. Having Brown, Smith and now Dotson along with Goedert the eagles have the best receiving group in the NFL.

Go Birds!!

Saints fan here…

Hoping for great things… but based on the last few seasons I will be disappointed.

Although the Super Bowl is at the superdome so you never know 🤞
