Born in Middlesbrough but left when he was 1 year old.... when his dad, Allan Johnston, left Boro on a free for Kilmarnock ;)

Great shout though - I'd love to sign him as backup/potential future replacement for Ayling.
Another one to bring home
Mattie Pollock Watford CH to replace VDB if he goes

Julio Enciso from Brighton and Tyler Morton from Liverpool both on loan in January
Enciso is an interesting call. He's clearly not getting a game at Brighton but is *probably* too good for the Championship. Would be a coup to land him on loan. Could be this season's Aaron Ramsey if he can hack the Championship.

I would hope clubs and players would be looking at how Ben Doak has done during his loan and think how it could benefit them

Thelo Aasgard Wigan no10 would be a great option to rotate with Azaz.
Is he better than Gilbert? Genuine question because in what little time Gilbert's had he's impressed and I don't know anything about Aasgard. If Gilbert is a better option but isn't even making the squad then Aasgard would seem like a non-starter.

I don't know what Carrick's issue with Gilbert is but in the times he's played he's done far more than Hamilton and (this season) Jones. Maybe he's just been unlucky with timing of injuries and came down with the virus, I don't know. Same last season, he showed far more than Silvera on the pitch but Carrick just wouldn't pick him in any kind of meaningful match. There was a period early this season where he looked better at #10 than Azaz. Maybe he inherited the black spot from Muniz.

I think Gilbert has been injured

In answer to ' is he better than Gilbert the answer is YES , as he plays every week for 90 min. Aasgard is a bit taller and similar to Azaz in the way he plays. When I have watched him he can hold the ball up well but also has the skill to pull off the unexpected. I like him , and his midfield teammate Matt Smith.

Seen quite a bit of Louie Barry since he's been at Stockport. He's a cracking player, great feet, skilful, direct.....and can finish. Think of a direct, quicker version of Azaz.

But that's the issue - he's a No. 10 not a No. 9 so would he want to come to Boro as Azaz's backup?

Potentially could play on the left. Be a good signing, County fans would be devastated if he left in January.

Players being considered for loan moves in January..

Harley Hunt
George McCormick
Law McCabe
Alex Gilbert

A while back Carrick said something about players needing to show in training that they should get in the team. I wonder if Gilbert is one of those players that only comes alive in a game? I took cannot think of a reason for Gilbert get so little game time. So perhaps he's isn't the greatest trainer.

Heard a few names banded about at the Sheffield Wednesday game..

33 James Clayton Hill - Bournemouth
28 Oliver Scarles - West Ham - L
29 Will Lankshear- Tottenham - L

I’ve heard Will Lankshear before.. dunno if he’s injured or what or if there’s any shrewd of truth in any of them. Have any of them been posted elsewhere? Both young lads.. and defenders? Doesn’t exactly set the world on fire. (I don’t know anything about them tbh)

The rumoured outs..

Seny Dieng - Spurs?
Isaiah Jones - QPR?
Emanuel Latte Lath - West Ham?

I’m guessing getting a keeper in on loan till the end of the season might be an option.. Sol Bryan’s injury looked pretty bad.

Tough, tough January ahead.. not sure how we get out of it looking stronger tbh.

33 James Clayton Hill - Bournemouth
That could be plausible. He was on loan at Blackburn last season and played primarily right back. Bournemouth recalled him but then didn't play him. He looks like a solid option for next season if we're in the Championship as he also plays centre back. Don't see it this season unless we're planning to lose Ayling or Dijksteel.

Don't know anything about Scarles. Looks like a left wingback type. 19 and never been out on loan so can't see the merits for us.

Lankshear I've never been convinced about. He seems like exactly the type of young centre-forward who Carrick doesn't want.

Lankshear has been in the first team squad for several weeks, as Spurs injuries mount up. I’m not sure they will let him go until they get a few back.
