Almost certainly. I've already said it one6 today, on the Chelsea thread, but this is another situation caused by FFP. Newcastle have a load of money but they aren't allowed to just go and spend it so they have to think of creative ways to get around it.

FFP needs scrapping. Either allow teams to just spend whatever they want or, ideally (so it will never happen), introduce a fixed value spending cap for all teams.

FFP was setup by the big clubs to ensure teams couldn't do what Newcastle want to do and usurp the big clubs by outspending them. As much as I don't want Newcastle to be successful I do enjoy the fact that these super clubs are being beaten and they aren't even guaranteed champions league anymore.

This needs to be stopped immediately by the games governing bodies. It is just a way of circumnavigating the FFP rules.
