a week wednesday, I'm driving my partner up from the south coast to boro so she can enjoy time with her family (and not with me - not a xmas fan). it so happens bormuff are playing in newcastle that night in the cup no-one cares about. if I decide to go, can someone recommend a handy parking place in newcastle thats handy when coming from mbro? I dont mind walking a bit to the ground.... would rather do that than being stuck in traffic. any advice appreciated. any abuse tolerated.

Youre going to get stuck in traffic regardless theyll be 50k+ people there as the game is sold out

Cross the redhugh bridge pass the arena and there should be plenty of street parking if you get there early enough within 10 minute of the stadium

If the weather is still cold like this, you can park at the underground car park at Tesco in Gateshead town centre for free for four hours after 6pm. You wouldn't have to scrape the car after returning and it's probably just under a half hour walk over the High Level bridge to St James' Park. That would cut out all city centre traffic and coming out you'd just have to loop round the town centre and head back to the A19.

If you don't mind the walk you can park at Quarryfield Road car park next to Gateshead College, It's pay and display and easy access from A184 via Albany Road. I've seen Toon fans parking here for night games. Its a 5 min walk down to the river/Baltic area and over Millennium bridge but then you will have to climb up into town via Dean Street and Grey Street, would be 30 mins walk but you get to see all the sights...👍

You would be better getting the train from Boro or Darlington or if not then parking somewhere along the metro line. They sell out for every home game plus the town is packed with people watching in bars too so trying to park anywhere central is difficult.
Last time I parked in jesmond and walked but it’s close to an hours walk each way

The centre for life multi storey (just before the arena) isn't a bad option. Ten to 15 minute walk from ground, secure, and handy for a sharp exit over the Reghugh bridge.

thank u all - will have a ponder. its going to be a long day, may decide to have a few beers in boro instead. cheers.
