Sad news Newcastle diamonds have folded

Just saw that - seemed inevitable after the farce of the last couple of seasons, and this one in particular, but still sad to see.

When you think of the powerhouse teams of the 70's and 80's they had.

The sport is on its @rse with Redcar being one of the very few well run clubs.

They announced last season was going to be their last, then the promoter/owners had a change of heart at the last minute.

Its an expensive sport to go and watch and if your team isnt competitive i guess crowds will soon plumet.

Jeff Brown will be all over this, it'll be a story of its own tonight and not just at the end of the Sport section

I've started going again (away matches predominantly) and I can't believe how farcical it's become.
