Newcastle Arabia

Over the years I take less and less interest in the premier league apart from checking who's coming down. Full of corrupt money, too much money, ethically corrupt. It's also very predictable and that makes it boring. Clubs who just buy everyone.. how boring is that? We all know who will be in the top 2 and top 6/7 (perhaps not the order) and who will be just trying to survive. And forget about winning the FA cup, or even the other one. That's gone, too.
The next time we go up we'll be straight back down again because we can't compete. Sad it's become like this, but it is.

@JM14 i think I’ve worked out you’re my brother in law (no offence). I know you’re just trying to put across a balanced argument but you must know you are wrong? The Saudi regime as far as football ownership is wrong. Someone has already mentioned Newcastle are now morally bankrupt, something I’ve said since the takeover. Those idiots are loving it at the moment. Lots of money to improve the team and facilities. They are also moving the ground. Putting a stadium on the town moor then redeveloping the current one as a park.
When I moved to work in the UAE, I was given dogs abuse by my in laws, now the Saudis are the best thing ever. When the ownership was brought up recently my brother in law had the counter argument, Steve Gibson has done some pretty bad things you know. I couldn’t argue back as it would cause a bit of a family dispute but we have a family holiday in a few weeks. When the inevitable football conversation comes up, I’ll be giving them loads.
Newcastle, horrible club, horrible fans, evil owners.

Don’t be daft, I hardly doubt a few banners and protests would force the owners to sell.

When they are throwing hundreds of millions at the club and many more millions into the area why would their fans protest anyway if it’s deemed legal and acceptable by the premier league? I highly doubt you would have any set of fans protesting that if they found themselves in the same position
Maybe not, maybe if they are so apathetic and willing to be bought then I guess they will happily clap along like performing seals.

It just saddens me, how so many people have no understanding, and no interest in understanding the horrors of what is happening in the world.

In an ideal world yes but half of the premier league is owned by questionable sources of money. Infact billions come into the uk from questionable sources, our own government even sell weapons to the country so I really doubt that a newcastle fan would feel the need to reject the takeover when the country is full of money from the same sources and that is widely accepted.

When the money is flowing and being invested in the local area as well as the club I doubt 90% of football fans would even give this a second thought. I honestly think most are bitter because it’s newcastle instead of having any real objections to it

As would the vast majority of fans if their club was taken over

You're probably right.

There are far too many thick as pig sh** people with no morals or understanding in the world, football reflects that I suppose.
True, blame those at the top for allowing the money in the first place and not those who can do absolutely nothing about it

Maybe Saudi chose to buy Newcastle as they gambled the fanbase would be too docile and spineless to kick up a fuss?

I don't think it was a case of them being docile and spineless. The Saudis chose Newcastle because they obviously knew those fans would be the easiest in the UK to sportswash and accept a take over no matter what. 100,000 skunks signed a petition to get the Saudi's aboard, they held demonstrations outside the Premier League offices in London when it looked like it was going to fall through. They petitioned the UK government to stop delaying the take over (when in fact it was the EPL haggling over the piracy issue and copyrights).

I don't think any other fan base would sell its soul like those up the road did. They could have made a stand and kept their integrity and respect from the footballing world and highlight the political issues with SA... but no. And all because fat man Ashley was a bad bad man, zero contracts and all, not to mention they're desperate to sign the likes of Mbabbe and buy a cupboard full of trophies and any money, even blood money, will do.

........Newcastle fans attending Saturday's match at Palace’s Selhurst Park stadium were seen sporting Saudi flags and dressed in traditional Saudi clothing.

Last Wednesday, Newcastle issued a statement “kindly asking” fans not to wear such attire after condemnation of the practise by anti-racism group, Kick It Out.

But the club reversed that stance on Saturday, saying that “those who wish to support the club by wearing appropriate culturally-inspired clothing should feel free to do so as they see fit. We are inclusive to all.”......
