I don’t think Stella Artois is a very reliable outlet to be honest

The positive is there are targets that have been researched and seriously considered (evidence Scott interview) for weeks. Some other clubs will only have realistic targets if other players are sold for fees etc i,e there budgets and places were used in the Summer.

I think the number of games coming up in January and our injury/players on international duty situation calls for signings sooner rather than later - i just hope they are ones that will improve us and be able to hit the ground running, unlike most of our summer recruits

Archer was in early on last January but Ramsey / Barlaser were late on. That said, we only really needed tweaks to personnel last time. We were on a pretty good run and Chuba was banging them in for fun.

This window feels very much like one where we could ideally do with a few early additions. It’ll all hinge on those players becoming available. No point in signing players for the sake of it.

It’d be nice to see a striker and another creative player join us early doors. We’re out for somebody who can put the ball in the net and show some composure in front of goal

Carrick has indicated in all his recent Media Conferences, he has target players and those in the pipeline, but also highlighted much depends on movement between other clubs, deals being agreed, and sometimes clubs deliberately leave negotiations and decisions to the last minute. My impression is he won't have time to mess about and will bring whom he wants in asap. I think the comment to a reporter about 5 or 6 games back, there might be "surprises" on the way, could be significant?
