Could be old news:
Half a million Teessiders have got their first new commercial radio station in almost 50 years.
Based in Middlesbrough's BOHO Zone, The Red has been officially launched - 48 years since Radio Tees came into being, and 10 years on from TFM leaving the region for Newcastle.
The Red proudly states it's ‘uber-local’ - concentrating on Middlesbrough and Teesside - and is available on DAB.
It's also brought back the popular Three Legends show to the airwaves, with former Boro star Craig Hignett picking up the microphone to defend the Boro patch.
Owner, ex-SKY man and Boro commentator Dave Roberts said: “It’s been a long road to get to this point with government legislation needing to change, but we’re now here. Teesside has its voice back and we are absolutely thrilled.
“The Red is passionate about Teesside. Presenters must come from or be well associated with Teesside. We love the Boro and are hell bent on talking up the area to up to half a million Teessiders.”
