New phone help!

Looking to switch my work phone as its been on a rolling contract for a couple of years now but 3 have decided they no longer want £10 a month from me, but will increase to £16 for the same deal. The phone is currently an oldish Iphone SE (one of the original ones not a modern one, so is around 4 years old).

Being an IT neanderthal, my queries are this; firstly, I think I'm going to move away from Apple and grab myself an Android phone. My personal phone is a Huawei P30 Lite and despite the fact some say they wouldn't use Huawei for security purposes, but I really like my phone. Plenty storage space for my music collection, excellent camera and surprisingly great battery life. I've pretty much decided therefore to move to a Huawei P40 lite for my new phone, however there is a 4g and a 5g variety, does that 5g really make that much difference?

I am also wary of whether I am able to somehow transfer all of my data on my iphone (contacts, messages, media etc) to my new Android phone in a straight forward manner, can this be done easily? Thanks.

Is 4g better than 3g? That probably answers your question if you think it is.

When setting up a new Android phone and transferring your details from the old android it is an absolute doddle because most of it is done through Google but I guess you don't have google on your iphone? if you do its easy if not sorry can't help.

Thanks, apprecaite it. In terms of the difference between 4g and 5g, I have to be honest download speed isn't a massive thing to me and 4g seems more than quick enough. The contract for the 5g phone is around £2 per month more which doesn't really concern me at all, really just wondering whether the 5g will future proof me to be able to use the phone for far longer than the 4g.

I think 4g will be around for quite a while yet. 5g is available in a lot of areas now, inc Middlesbrough, but not sure how good the coverage actually is. I've just upgraded and stayed with a 4g model.

Thank you. After all that I went for a Samsung! Hopefully getting the data switched across shouldn't prove too difficuly.

I was about to say... go for Samsung Galaxy A71. Great battery life and big screen size. (As I'm assuming you're wanting a budget friendly option - otherwise S20+).Still fits in your pocket. Once you get a larger phone screen you won't want to go back.

3g/4g and 4g/5g isn't really a good comparison. 4g is effectively almost instant in many cases, so for many (current) phone applications you won't notice much difference. 3g on the other hand.... we all remember the spinning disc!!
