New parkrun World Record

Unbelievable time, this. Remember this is not on a running track but 5km (3.1 miles) around a park.

Scottish Olympian Andy Butchart competed the Edinburgh parkrun course in a stunning time of 13:45 mins!!!

It is a spectacular time though. The track WR is 12:35 and that's on a flat track with spikes and no inclines, dogs, kids, trees or bends in the way

My niece did a park run in about 19mins 10seconds., I cant quite remember the exact time .Shes was 10 at the time.
We think it's an Irish record for her age group.Not sure about UK.

You get a time every week so if you choose you can race against your time or others or just go for a jog and the community. It is deliberately called parkrun not park race. But also from October 2022 they launched parkwalk so there are now dedicated people wearing blue vests that walk around with those that prefer not to run or jog and you just walk 1 lap or 2 whatever you wish, it gets people out into the fresh air and in the green of the local park every Saturday at 9am.
There are over 600 parkruns in the UK so there is bound to be one near you and a weekly community that is welcoming to all.

The whole Park run 'thing' is amazing. I used to do it almost every week.

Although since leaving the armed forces my fitness has declined a bit . That's some crazy time. I think I was always around 23-24mins in my prime.

It's actually a global event. I ran a few when we were in South Africa. It started at 0600 due to being that hot in summer.

I really need to get my *ss into gear and do them again.

I do the junior one with my daughter, haven’t done one myself in a long time.

No ParkRun records any more. I think it's pretty daft. Used to quite enjoy looking at them occasionally, shame.

Putting into a timeline context Buchart beats Vladimir Kuts world 5000m WR he set in 1955. But I agree with the decision to end records. It’s not a race.
