New house: gas and electricity advice

Hi all,

Will shortly be moving into a rented house on my own. Before I trawl through Martin Lewis sites etc has anyone any idea what it is best to do regarding gas and electricity? Do I go fixed term? Can I still use price comparison sites, is this even worth it?

Just stay with the company who supplies the property on the standard variable tariff.

You can't get cheaper than the October price cap which the standard variable tariff will be.
