New borat movie

I thought it was great, as I did the first one. Some of it is very uncomfortable viewing, but thats part of the point. It is quite difficult to establish what is real and what is clearly set up sometimes, but again this is using ridiculous set ups to hold a mirror up to equally ridiculous 'real world' situations

TBH I just don’t think it needs all the “storyline” stuff between the actual scenes. I realise he has to pad it out, but as I’ve always said, Borat was great when it was a 5 minute segment on the Ali G Show. Personally, I don’t find it translates well to the feature length movie format.

I think i agree with that to a degree, a full length feature is a long time for what is essentially just a character sketch. I felt the same about alpha papa, it didn't work as well in film format

Yes I’m sure some of the groups they visited were set up or actors - I’m sure the vagina eating arms scene must have been actresses.
I guess part of the beauty is figuring out who were the actors and who were not. The reality is probably a little surprising.

We watched it last night, uncomfortable at times, but still had me laughing quite a fair bit. Looks like my humour hasn’t matured with me over the past 14 years

I've not watched it yet and really not sure if I want to given the reviews and what I've read here

It sounds to me like the character has already run its course ie the first Borat film was enough and this is just more of the same

What reviews? I’ve only seen good ones. I watched it last night, very funny but not as funny as the first one, a solid 7/10 for me.

Watched it last night, quite funny but wow, and I thought some of our tory voters were a bit thick.....

I enjoyed it. Laughed throughout. One of those films that you're not supposed to take seriously, but you actually should given the ignorance on show. Like the first movie there's some scary people out there.

Most aren’t actors but they’re also aware they are being filmed but under a different pretense, for example the debutant ball part they were told it was part of a movie but not that it was borat, and they were all paid to be there. Once it unfolded the way it did they all stormed off to reception and got their phones back (as they didn’t want it filming so we’re taken off them at the door) and thats how it doesn’t end up all over the Internet, I imagine many of the scenes the same. They obviously have camera crew because the camera angle changes rapidly even in the shop while sending faxes, so it’s not like he just rocks up, they just give them an alternate story

Yes the only one he told the full truth to was.. Judith did Evans.

For the Holocaust survivor Judith Dim Evans, Sacha Baron Cohen actually let her know about the joke being filmed with her and Borat.

Btw

During Judith Dim Evans' scene in the synagogue, Judith's story can be viewed with Amazon's X-Ray bonus content feature.

true, the Mike Pence scene involved him stowing away in a lavatory for 5 hours to avoid the security is probably one of the few bits that had no alternate story

I read her family is disputing this though and is suing him as she has since passed away, but surely they will have some records of it.

I would have thought that (especially) as a Jewish fella, hoodwinking a Holocaust survivor would have been unacceptable to anyone, so presumably this is why he let her know about the scenario??

of course she knew about it, the family are just a bit ***ed and looking for someone to blame for their mum being in something that they think mocks Jews, when in reality it mocks people that mock jews. Americans have a habit of litigation before engaging their brains

I found it very funny and strangely endearing towards the American people. I disagree with so many of the opinions of people in the movie, but they offered hospitality, help and acceptance that I'm not sure you'd get in many other places.
