Netflix

I have a Three 4G router I use specifically for a couple of rooms that were getting poor reception. Netflix picks up that router in those rooms and the main router in the rest of the house.
I assume they have different IP addresses but no problems from Netflix (yet).

This only occurred last night.

Took me about 2 hrs plus to sort. My initial hour was because the TV would not pick up Wi-Fi from main router then Netflix hung up on me.

When returned from my parental duties it would , but had to reset my home network and sign out and in on most but not all devices.

Youfibre does their own mesh system as an add on for £7 a month - that gives you two nodes which will basically rebroadcast the signal from where you put them, so put them somewhere between the router an md the black spot

Another option is for full strength broadcasts is to run a wire between the router and one of the mesh nodes

You can buy the nodes yourself if you don't want a sub

Introducing Amazon eero 6 dual-band mesh Wi-Fi 6 extender | Expands existing eero network https://amzn.eu/d/8Z4aaBD

Or you can buy all router and nodes if don't want to use youfibre but depends on your use case and if currently using extenders I'd say not to bother and just get youmesh from youfibre

I have only just bought my extenders a month or two back

These are what I have.

I'd flog them, or try take them back and say not working. you absolutely want a mesh network. Extenders are devices of the past and although they can serve a purpose; they often cause a lot of problems.

Mesh networks are seamless and you can very easily expand them as needed.

You also get 5ghz WiFi in most rooms whereas usually 5ghz is limited to quite close to the router and most other rooms would get 2.4ghz, and if you're in 1gb with youfibre you want to be making most use of that speed.

Which WiFi frequency are you using to watch Netflix? The 2.4GHz frequency has a better range than the 5GHz but the 5GHz has better speeds. If your devices are close to your router the 5GHz is best but if the signal has to travel through walls or over a longer distance then the 2.4GHz is best to use.

Also, the number 1 rule in IT if anything suddenly goes wrong, do a powercycle which I’m sure you will have already done.

Missed that 😂

The point still stands with Virgin for others though.

Sounds as though the most recent hardware is better but the problems have been around for years.

I personally would buy a mesh system for £100 rather than rent one for £84 per year.

I am vouch for the Tp link Deco devices but have had mine 2/3 years so could be better out there
