Nelson Semedo to Wolves £37m

May sound a bit mad but yes I would. Don’t want a team of millionaire Portuguese superstars, just like I wouldn’t want teams like Forest or Derby who are paying silly money for very ordinary players. We’ve made lots of mistakes but the way Neil Warnock is rebuilding is the right way and will work.

Isnt that pretty much what we have done for years, just looking at our current squad, £30 million on Britt, Fletcher and Saville alone.

Surely rather millionaire Portuguese superstars than millionaire bog standard championship players?

That’s why I said we have made mistakes, bloody expensive ones, but now we are on the right track. The likes of Derby, Forest, and now Birmingham continue to make those same mistakes over and over again.

We really arent any different, we have made the same mistakes over and over again, the reason we have had a change in our transfer policy is for no other reason than we are skint. If we had the money we would be after the same players that Forest, Derby, Birmingham etc are. They can spend the money still because they havent wasted it to our extent over the last few years.

We are hardly on the right track, we have a team where the best players are out of contract next summer, have very few players that we will get back what we paid for them and are having to rely on free/cheap transfers and youngsters to get by

TBH the prospect of signing big name players with big reputations for big money doesn't appeal any more.
I'm glad to have had the chance to experience it, but my happiest day following Boro were still when we had a team of local kids scrapping for us.

The sheer amount of money involved in a transfer is repulsive, not glamorous, and I hate it when Sky tells us how much has been spent in a transfer window, as if it's something that should excite me.

So I'd prefer a team of at least 8-9 players from a local-ish area (Yorkshire/North-East, no problem) who understand how important a football club is to a town and its people, even if they're not Boro born and bred.

Well we’ll just have to agree to disagree. I think we are on the right track, and I believe we will finish above Forest, Derby and Birmingham and Warnock will build us a squad who actually care about Middlesbrough FC .

Can hardly say Wolves arent a "proper" club. All that they have done is worked with an agent which we have in the past, and now they have a top 7/8 side a few years after being in the championship and likely will have European football for years to come.

Would you really have Neil Warnock and poor championship football over that?
Wolves are now just a satellite office of a Chinese multi billionaire, they aren’t building sustainable success as a ‘proper club’, they just have a wealthy backer who is buying it for them.
