Red Bull sacked Vips last week because of his comment online so they can't be accused of having blinkers on.

He is world champion so arguably the biggest name in motorsport at this current time, surely he has a responsibility to speak out on matters like this especially when they come from someone with connections to him

Not a single person called Max racist or blamed him.

People ARE saying that as a high profile figure of the sport, it really would be wise to condemn racism. You know this yet still make daft statements.

Come on. His name was dragged into this thread for no other reason than to have potential cheap pop at him because of who he sleeps with and the relationship of that person to Pique.
I never said anyone called him a racist. Nobody did.

Urghh social media stinks, because someone hasn't got their PR team to knock up an Instagram or Twitter statement they are the bad people.

Liberty Group will make a public state of address at the British GP which in sure all the drivers will support and back. A large majority of Brazilians will also back Lewis due to citizenship thing that was recently announced and their love of him.

Both paragraph 1 and 2 are fundamentally incorrect.

As thus thread shows. Precisely 5 drivers have spoken out about racism. That's only a quarter of the grid and that includes the driver who was subject to abuse.

People are moaning because Verstappen hasn't spoken out publicly. I don't see Hamilton moaning about that?

I didn't see any of the drivers complaining about racing in Qatar, Saudi Arabia or China given all three of those country's shocking human rights abuses.

Big bad Max Verstappen, the evil foreigner who denied the homegrown, second greatest racing driver ever, another world title.

Completely missing the point once again. When a driver is racially abused do you think the world champion who is now basically the face of F1 should speak out about it or just say nothing?

Forget about this Portuguese/Brazilian translation rubbish. Suarez didn't get away with that defence and neither should Piquet.

Verstappen is associated with this whether his fans on here like it or not.

I’m not a Verstappen fan, in fact I can’t stand him or Red Bull but saying he is associated with this is frankly ridiculous. You don’t date or not date someone because of their father, at least I’ve never took that into consideration anyway, maybe I’m weird.

The majority of the drivers have released something about it defending Hamilton, yet the biggest name in the sport currently hasn’t. Why is that?
Nothing to do with what relation he is to Piquet, he’s an ambassador for the sport he absolutely should be making his stance on this perfectly clear. The majority of the drivers have managed it so why can’t he?

5 is not a majority. It's barely a quarter of the grid. But Max's name is the one that pops up in here, because he's champion or is he the current champion? I thought some refused to acknowledge his championship given the games played at the final race of 2021.

People will rightly have Hamilton's back, publicly and privately.

Why are you deflecting from the issue? Fact is he is world champion and has an obligation to behave like one. A colleague is being racially abused, he can’t just stay silent about it

Should Verstappen have come out and said something with the other five drivers? Yes.
Are people forgetting the real issue here and using it as a stick to beat Verstappen with, yes. Those who claim that's a lie are just lying to themselves.

That's a ridiculous comparison. Piquet didn't turn into a racist overnight he's always been one judging by his half-hearted apology to Hamilton and cack-handed attempt to put it down to a translation error. So yes in my mind Verstappen associates with a racist and a particularly detestable person at that.
