Neil Warnock

It's almost like all Warnock's promotions were achieved by default then. Seeing as his teams are unable to do anything according to the fans on these pages.

I just spat out my elevenses earlier when one sage was trying to intimate that Woodgate had a better points per game ratio.

Never seen our fans turn so quickly in such a short time.
:) lol, just pointing out he had a lot more money to spend than Woodgate and his points ratio is not that great either, don't really get why everyone is or was fawning over Warnock he is just like Tony Pulis but with slightly better jokes. However, if he does turn it around and he might who knows ( i know nowt about football) and gets us in the top six then brilliant! btw i am bit worried we might go for Fat Sam next to get the set of old style English managers ;)

I can't see any point in carrying on with Warnock. He's not going to be at the club next season regardless of what happens this season. It would be better to find someone who could potentially be a longer term appointment. He could use this season to figure out what needs fixing and develop a plan.

Warnock's approach is just a series of sticking plasters to cover the problems that he's created by not recruiting the right players and playing people out of position.

I can't imagine Warnock is enjoying managing at his age. Better to leave now than hang on as things spiral down.
Who says NW won't be here next season?

It's also interesting that he was getting better results with fewer resources at his disposal.
Agreed, I suspect it's better to get a limited player to play to his strengths and not over think things, than to get an intelligent technical player to go against their skills and experience and stop passing and moving.

We've had the Pulis and Warnock 'destroy and exit' BFS might just finish us off for good

You can work on formations and tactics (who marks who etc).

You can't work on getting a ball into feet and not being able to pass to a team mate 5 yards away. It wasn't even the tactics on Saturday. Just absolute basics of being a professional footballer. They have got this far in a career. You can't teach them how to control a ball or find a teammate 3 feet away😂

It's related to tactics and training and the manager and coaches have to take a level of responsibility for it (as do the players of course). If you're not practising short quick passing in training (for example) those skills aren't going to come as easily in the intensity of a match.

I remember when Jon Pickering retired, same thing. Players suddenly looked like they'd lost the ability to play a simple pass. They didn't suddenly forget how to play football, but good coaching helps keep those skills sharp.

That might not be the case here of course, could just be one of those games and I've obviously no idea what they do in training. But to suggest the manager/coaches have no influence over it is nonsense.

Barca do rondos every single day. Keeps you sharp, but also helps you understand what kind of pass your teammate will do and what they do as they receive a pass. This is vital to working as a unit instead of 3, 4 or 5 individuals in midfield.

He and the lads from the golf club bar room are with us until the end of the season, unless we hit a catastrophic dip in form. The model Kieran Scott has been brought in to helm won't really take shape until 2022 IMO.

In defence of Warnock he's having to deal with sets of players brought in for three separate philosophies - the one he inherited (league one players to be developed, while making use of big earners who we couldn't move on) - the one he's comfortable with in this league (big strong players with fitness to outmuscle teams) and the philosophy for the future which is players scouted and selected to fit a system such as Payero and Siliki led by a Director of Football calling the shots.

On the other hand, he's not really using his experience well enough and he's almost dazzled by the options in front of him rather than using the players to the strength of a plan. Reminds me of Southgate in that respect. But its also up to the players to make some of his decisions easy by being in such strong form that they can't be dropped - I don't think we have enough players in that vein of form as yet, apart from Jones, and you must admit he is going to need to be managed carefully to avoid burnout.

Three very useful games coming up to determine direction of travel this season.

I agree, I was embarrassed to be there on Saturday.
Their first goal was just another of this same situation, waiting to happen!
Constantly surrendering easy possession in midfield will eventually end how it did.
Thought the players looked apathetic and it passed to the fans.
Quietest I have know a Boro lot for years, nearly 3,000 and I have been with less than 500 and made more noise and atmosphere.
As we all do I hope for better at trees but I fear the worst.

Three teams that are below Boro, 2 have conceded more goals, one has already hammered Boro, and all were expected to do better than they are.

Like a slow moving freight train, we know what's going to happen, we can see it coming but nobody seems capable of doing anything to stop it.
