National Tea Day

Today is National Tea Day, the drink that gets Britain moving.

I’m a Yorkshire tea man myself and can’t be done with these funny flavoured teas.

Yorkshire tea is best served with ginger nut biscuits.

What about you?

I have Yorkshire at the moment . But last 2 years I have dropped my one brand approach and just go for what's on offer at the big box end of the market. It's Yorkshire , PG Tips or Typhoo mainly. I give myself a 30 bag warning , then on the next trips to the shops my peepers are out looking for the offers. I know my pence per bag value levels :)

My son works for a local electrical company and they have completed work at Tetley's in Eaglescliff and at Taylor's (Yorkshire Tea) in Harrogate. When he was at Taylor's he said the whole workforce would stop at 2 pm for afternoon tea with a choice of cakes and scones on offer - all free of charge.

Just enjoyed a nice cup of Al-Kbous tea ...produce of Yemen.

Loose leaf...always. There's a difference to tea bags as far as I'm concerned...a big difference.

Given up caffeine and decaf tea is horrible so just decaf coffee for me on National Tea Day. Ringtons do a good decaf coffee

I only recently discovered Chia Tea, which is absolutely wonderful when you want a bit of a change to the traditional.

Only really Yorkshire tea for me, though I do enjoy the odd green tea.

I do fancy trying some of the proper Indian chai stuff, but I usually only see it when I'm getting Indian food and I don't like having hot drinks with hot food.

Yorkshire Tea all the way - I actually have a Tea addition....Keep asking the missus to help me with Tea bagging but so far she has declined

Loose leaf in my opinion tastes much better.

"When you steep loose-leaf tea, it has (or should have) room for tea leaves to absorb water and expand as they infuse. This allows the water to flow through the leaves and extract a wide range of vitamins, minerals, flavors, and aromas from the leaves.

When you steep tea in a teabag, its infusion is limited by the size of the teabag. Packing full-leaf tea into a small tea bag won’t yield a very flavourful cup."

In effort to to be eco-friendly, PG Tips have ditched their single use wrapper, which enclosed the total box, and the tea bags do not have microplastic inclusions. present in all other tea bags. I like the taste of PG Tips, BUT there's a problem. The tea bags themselves have a manufacturing flaw, because of the microplastic exclusion, which allows some to split while making the tea and a mouthful of tea leaves, when least expected, is horrible. I buy Tetley, less eco-friendly with the plastic packaging and microplastic, but more reliable.

I have bought some tea bags called clipper teabags because they were on offer. They seem to be some sort of fair trade thingy but don't have the usual matey matey we are lovely people not some horrible capitalist company ignore the fact that we are owned by glaxismithklinrnestlecocacola go and hug a tree spiel on the side of their box like innocent smoothies or Ben and jerry so I'm wondering if they are kosher.

Bit of a faff cleaning the teapot between every cup though?

I love a cup of tea and find most makes are pretty good. A tiny bit of milk, no sugar. Had a long session on the operating table this morning, cup of tea and ginger biscuits perked me up after.

I've always maintained that while coffee is a stimulant, tea is a restorative and brings you back to being you. I can no longer drink coffee after midday, so bloody love being restored by Yorkshire's finest.

1. Yorkshire Tea
2. Twinings Breakfast Tea
3. P.G.Tips

Tetley Tea is Yuk

I love Tea on its own more often than not, but it is lovely with a chocolate digestive or Jammy dodger too
