Nasty crash at the Track League last night

I don't know how Katy got out of this with just a broken arm. The new 1.4 metre high perspex safety barrier cost £250,000 to install after another serious crash in 2022, but it obviously hasn't worked.

It’s a horrible crash - travelling at such speed knowing you are heading for the barrier must be terrifying.

I did wonder about the need to put the barrier up after that 2022 crash (seemed a little OTT).
Not sure what the next step is for safety for the crowd.

Airbags like the speedway... more of a buffer zone due to the depth of them and they absorb the impact of both rider and equipment so it doesnt catapult into the crowd behind.

Just been reading about Tom P’s move to Q36.5

It’s a surprise for sure….full of risk moving to a lower tier team that don’t get the auto invites to the big events.
They get 2 monuments but not TDF - means he is unlikely to be at the Tour for the next 3 years.

Fair play, mind, he could have stayed at Ineos and took the money until his contract was up.

Dimension Data weren’t world tour when Cav joined them…

Doug Ryder is the team manager - he knows the score. I bet they get invites into some top races. Pidders will be allowed to do his other stuff. TBH I aren’t sure that the Tour is one of Pidcocks immediate targets.

It's a strange move for sure, but maybe it's because he will be the star name, so no conflicts. The team will want some big results though, as I'm not sure he'll be taking a salary cut. It gives the team an instantly higher profile and a shortcut to future World Tour status. I wouldn't rule out them getting a wild card invite to the Tour, particularly if Tom comes up with a big win in the spring. From the way he's talking he plans to start with a bang.
