Just seen this tonight, big fan of ridley Scott and cinema, but thought this was ****€, been a disappointing year for blockbusters as as also thought oppenheimer was ****€.

Unfortunately, they don't make them like they used [movies] to I'm afraid. However, I thought it was decent, if not unspectacular but thought provoking movie. The movie has a run time of over 2 and half hours so there's a lot they crammed in and perhaps a lot they missed out-- he had a long career. I think it's also worthwhile [before splashing the cash to see the movie] just coming to terms with who was Napolean, through reading up maybe or listening in to some decent books on the fella.

I also went last night to the Showcase to see this film, and although I enjoyed going to the cinema with my son, I was also disappointed with this film.

I will watch it again when it comes on TV but it’s not a film you would watch over and over again.

I think I'll be waiting for the that 4 hour Director's Cut he said he wanted to release.

Bit gutted that I've not really heard from anybody that's particularly enjoyed it yet, it's exactly my sort of film.

Totally agree. Been looking forward to this for ages and all I hear is similar to experience above

I had the same thoughts and was looking forward to it. The trailer excited me when I saw it and although I didn’t expect it to stick with history, I did expect better.

Oh man, perhaps I’m easily pleased but I thought it was great. Really enjoyed it and thought some of the battle scenes were outstanding, some humour in there as well.

I have 2 young children mind and don’t get out much these days so perhaps that and having the opportunity to sit down for 3 hours has enhanced my experience 🤣

Oppenheimar was an excellent film, but the viewer needs to appreciate the historical context to understand what is happening and when.

I agree with you that Oppenheimer was indeed crap - haven’t seen Napoleon yet but i think i shall probably enjoy this one more, despite a few people saying it wasn’t brilliant

I thought it was disjointed, with a strange over focus on his relationship. It sort of felt like 4 episodes of a limited series rather than a movie.

Was looking forward to seeing it, but then read the really poor reviews, made worse by the fact that it's so historically inaccurate.

One of them I might watch, maybe not.
