Nadine Dorries

I've a friend that is a senior civil servant and they say that The Thick of It reflected the idiocy and the absurbity of daily life in a department but feels they toned it down as otherwise people wouldn't believe it.
Ha! It definitely has the ring of truth to it (I'm a civil servant myself).

I think since Johnson its been a lot more like The Thick of It, but you don't need to work in a department to realise that.

Junior staff being given a suitcase to go and fill with wine.

BJ getting caught being given a BJ by Gavin Williamson.

Ministers watching porn on their work laptops.

Ministers going round the office leaving passive aggressive notes on empty desks.

All the Dominic Cummings stuff. Barnard Castle eye tests, princess nut nuts etc.

And that's just stuff in the public domain off the top of my head! 🤦‍♂️

Hancock, his affair and the jungle.
Clarke and his affair.
The numerous u turns and failed policies.
Liz Truss.

The list is as depressing as it is long.

The wallpaper bribe.
The £800k bribe disguised as a loan.
The lies about Brexit.
The covid PPE VIP lane to corruptly divert public funds.
The lies about gatherings during covid.
The lies about a social care plan.
The lies about everything.

Johnson set the standard of absolute corruption and the rest of them have been filling their boots from the public purse ever since. They have damaged this country irreparably. Not one of them will be punished.

And still, at least around 3 in 10 will probably trundle along to the polling station at the next election and indicate they'd like more of the same please.

The same idiots who watched Boris hide in a fridge and thought "yep, that's my man. That's who I want running the country".

🤯

Nadine does for Nadine. All designed for maximum exposure.
Hell hath no fury...........
I guess if you gobbled Boris a few times on the promise of the Lords you might feel the same way.

These people are given the responsibility to run our country, yet are so far out of their depth and clearly do not give one sh*t about serving anybody but themselves......it's scary.

Hence where we are as a country in 2023, slowly slipping into the "irrelevant" category. Once a global leader, now just a bitter, broken little island.

But hey, a tiny % got stinking rich(er) off the back of the last 13 years and the likes of Dorries will never, ever have to worry about paying a bill ever.

☹️☹️

Should just mention another corrupt connection who no doubt starts the pulses racing of some of the older generation on here but who should also be in jail for blatant corruption.

Mrs Ultimo herself Michelle Mone.

The increased allowance applies to MPs who either lose or resign at the next general election, not MPs who resign in mid term.
Under the Ministerial and Other Pensions and Salaries Act 1991 those resigning from office are entitled to a one-off payment of 25 per cent of the annual salary they were paid when holding that office. This includes office of MPs, ministers, the opposition leader, whips and the Speaker irrespective of whether they go mid term or at the end of the term ( ie general election). Dorries will get that payment as well as claiming a salary as an MP for doing sweet FA for the last 3 months.

However you are correct that the recent doubling of the allowance applies only to those who use or resign office at the end of a term of Government
