Muniz not coming on.

I'm glad some are actually saying he's simply not that good. The clammer on here to bring him in over the summer was strange at best.

Based on? Well frankly nothing as he hardly had a kick last season. I guess it's because he's young and Brazilian 😂

The best thing that happened is that we didn't buy him and he chose Fulham. That would have been 7mil and a big 4 year deal down the pan. Although you have to question the powers that be who identified him.

Just looks way to 'raw'. That's being polite. You can't be a project at 7mil.

I imagine around 1mil+ loan fee and paying 15-20k a week for him. Only made up figures but probably not far off. That could definitely be better spent in Jan.

I'd rather we developed Coburn. I never really got the sending him out on loan to get games. It's not like he was bit part for us. Always involved until the arrival of Connally and Balogun. The less we say about those 2 the better.

You have to say we've had a transfer shocker again up top. Muniz / Hoppe and Forss. The have not improved us one bit. The one standout forward is the one we wanted shot of and didn't take on the pre season tour😂. Oh and Watmore is Watmore. Just keeps seeing off other forwards probably brought in to replace him. Give him a new deal.
Totally agree

TBH I thought our set up and play was ideal for Muniz in the last two games. Neither team really sat back and there was space to play ball over top for him to run on to against both Hull and Bristol. While Forss didnt have a bad game yesterday but didn't do much at Hull and Muniz is the better player for me.

I think Muniz will get goals but he needs a chance in the set up we are playing now instead of just hoofing it forward.

Another career ruined after a loan move to us.
That said I never saw anything in him that stood out.

And as people who on here who know football better then me have already said, Carrick hasnt seen anything in him to either give him the start or bring him on. Says it all.

The Crooks sub look a bit baffling on the surface but we don't really know Carricks thinking. Maybe he was sending Muniz a bit of a message if he didn't like his response to being dropped in training, maybe he doesn't fancy crooks in midfield an wanted to try him up top before making decisions re January. Maybe he just thinks Crooks is a better striker, although that would be rhe most worrying reason lol.

I must admit the ine thing I've not liked about MC so far is his unwillingness to use subs. Seems a bit oldschool in that regard.

I remember when he had a shot from inside his own half at Watford in injury time, which stupidly squandered position of the ball to an opposition who then promptly went up the other end and scored. I always thought that said quite a lot about him. People defended it at the time but it was such an unprofessional thing to do IMO.

The front two deployed by Carrick actually look to be similar in style to Wilder - one slightly deeper player linking play (Akpom) and a runner (Forss on Sat). Similar to the roles Sporar and Connelly played last season.

I actually think the options are quite decent for now: Akpom/Muniz and Forss/Watmore.

Coburn is probably a bit of both (arguably suits the Akpom role?) and I'm genuinely not sure on Hoppe yet.

Wouldn't be adverse to Coburn replacing Muniz in Jan.

That said, I've been a little underwhelmed by Muniz. Probably the best technician at the club and we know he can finish. The fact we're not persisting with him currently means he may not be here long term?

For what it's worth, in terms of sheet ability, I think Forss and Muniz is probably our strongest front two but we can't drop Akpom as he's scoring goals.

Akpom has shown more ability than any of our other forwards this season

He's certainly scored more goals. I'd like to see him more involved in the build up personally. He tends to go missing right up until the point he scores (if that makes sense) and whilst it's great that he is scoring, that would be area I'd like him to work on.

He was heavily involved in 2 of the goals at Hull. He was involved in the first prior to him scoring and then a great bit of play and pass before the third goal

He's not been very good. Wouldn't say there was any more to it than that. Would be nice to see hoppe get some minutes.
To be honest I'd be perfectly happy to see him go back to Fulham. Akpom is the original "like a new player" at the minute. Hoppe and Forss we've spent money on so let's give them minutes. And watmore is one of our best and most effective players.
Happy for him to go back too, also Giles

Strangely never taken to him after that. Probably shows my prejudice, but that suggested he wasn't really a team player and I've not seen much since to suggest he's better than Coburn.

He's a bit of a conundrum I think, which is not the first time that word has been used to describe a footballer,

First few games I thought he looked a proper no.9 - against Sunderland for example he was fantastic, a real physical presence, holding the ball up, linking play and generally being a nightmare for defenders with his physicality.

But then I think he was kidnapped and replaced with a stunt double, one who only had a passing acquaintance with a football and an insistence that he plays in clogs.

Very odd.

Methinks when off the ball Muniz needs to learn how to find some space to operate. Chuba knows how.

Was interesting to see him not take part in the celebrations at the FT whistle, and instead went towards the dug out and then eventually went down the tunnel on his own.

Mowatt soon followed too.
