Muniz & Hoppe

I remeber when muniz came on as a sub for his debut and hit the wood work like straight away
So missed the target then.

The bloke will be remembered for shooting from inside his own half in injury time at Vicarage Road when we were drawing 1-1, and we went 2-1 down less than a minute later. That was so, so unprofessional IMO. Just showboating when we’d grafted our arses off for a point and we ended up with nowt.

It’s probably why he’s spent the best part of two years on the bench or just travelling around various modes of transport while others play the actual games.

Hoppe hasn't had anywhere near enough time on the field to be declared "a bust".
Absolutely.
Carrick has answered positively, any questions about Hoppe and indicated he favours loans to build players experience. He stressed how important Hoppe`s call - up to the USA squad this week was. Lets not forget, he was messed around by one former Manager, who prioritised his own ego over players like Hoppe and Forss. That didnt help Hoppe in particular, due to his inexperience in the EFL game. He is doing well and would benefit from a spell on loan. Carrick mentioned last week - how he went on loan to Swindon from West Ham and how much, he believes, that contributed to his maturation and understanding of his overall game.

Not a great decision in the context of the game but I've seen far worse. I remember Downing once losing the ball trying to dribble out of his own box and costing us a late goal and points. Players make mistakes.

Muniz's "mistake" was launching the ball up the other end of the pitch and it ending up with their keeper. We could've done without turning over possession but it's a bit of a stretch to say that alone cost us the point. The outcome of this apparently terrible error was the ball ending up in the least dangerous part of the pitch (it's also not showboating, it was, however unlikely, an attempt to score). The poor defending afterwards was a much bigger factor.

To then suggest that's why he's been on the bench or not had regular starts is a massive stretch. It's actually a bit ridiculous to be honest.

I mean it's probably more likely down to the fact he's under 21 and playing in a different continent I'd have thought. And probably ultimately just isn't quite good enough yet.

We've got to be wary of the mentality of "he's not even on the bench, the manager doesn't rate him and he needs to be replaced".

Can we manage with a squad of 18 players? I think most of us would say no, we're going to need more than that.

Therefore, there are going to be players who the manager wants at the club who aren't even on the bench at times. They're not on the way out, or stealing a living, it's just the reality of the squad game.
